★★★ The "Official" I got my DROID BIONIC Thread ★★★

LOL - some of you will know what I mean when I say that I'm *ELATED* to be the FIRST person in my area code to get the Bionic.
Kind of funny, the official Verizon store is roughly 65 miles away, so first thing after dropping my kids off at school, I broke the speed barrier to be there before they opened the doors. I got there first and was hanging out on the curb and all kinds of people started showing up waiting for the Bionic.

Couldn't tell you just how many people ended up with one and how many got turned away, but I was the first one in half my state!! (my state is split into only 2 area codes, literally in half)

Now, after a full day of work, time to play, but the short time I've had it, I've made several calls -everything comes through VERY clear, VERY responsive (impressive speed and visuals considering I just came from a 1.25GHz overclocked D1), the texts come through and send out quickly even though there's no actual 3G here yet. I did get to download a file in the 4GLTE location I purchased it and hit just a hair over 18Mbps download speed... VERY nice for a phone!

The battery life so far is unremarkable. I've taken 14 phone calls, 1 of them was an hour-long, as well as 11 text, watched Black Label Society's Overlord video on YouTube, and my battery level is at 70% (via Settings > About Phone > Status) - BUT, I did turn off everything that I wasn't using, like Google Networks, sync, and the like...

Now off to configure it for the rest of the night...

Just left my local Verizon store, they had plenty of Bionics said they only sold 2. I played with the phone and wasnt impressed with the display one bit, I think I will hold onto my OG droid until october and see what the prime, vigor or iphone bring us. Dont get me wrong the Bionic is a damn nice phone, I just dont think its $300 worth of phone, plus ive waited almost a year for a new phone a month or so more wont kill me!

I forgot to ask the vzw rep, but does anyone know if my insurance on the d2g carries over to the bionic?

Whoever posted the pics of their bionic on page 18 on the beige looking blocks outside... why do you have taskkiller running? Android 2.2 (and above)auto closes background apps when more memory is needed, android devs have specficially said not to use it. You can use the built in Task Manger to kill any app that gets hung in an cpu eating cycle.

Because I restored from a backup and didn't take it off yet :) and not sure I will, sometimes when I play wwf or some games, and it freezes, at least on my old phone I wouldnt be able to get back into the app unless I used ATK to kill it, either that or reboot the phone.

Ok, I have found a complaint. The back cover is a little cheap. I would've rather them made the phone a little heavier using more durable parts than trying to make it light. Coming from the D1, even the 3g on this thing seems to fly.

Can someone explain me to how to order this on Walmart.com and keep my existing data plan? I don't see an option for that. I'm on a family plan with 3 other phones and when I select the same family plan, it wants me to pick what data package I want. I've never ordered a phone on walmart.com cuz I could never figure out how to do it.

When you go through tier order process, there is a tab along the rip for upgrade and when it asks you to pick a data plan it is because it does not know if you hanger one or not. If you already have unlimited, just select "keep my unlimited".

Ok, I noticed when my apps updated from my Droid that root manager still works on my bionic and I'm not rooted. Anyone else notice that?

Got mine over lunch break.... Have yet to really get a chance to fully play with it. I figure I will get used to it over time.
Trying to think of what apps to get while trying not to fill up the phone with useless apps.

My DX held a 3G signal better at work than my Bionic does. But, I wanted to get the Bionic because in about a week 4G will be up & running in my area. I understand the 4G signal is stronger, and would likely pick up at my work much better. I'm surrounded by electronics and other such devices that may be an issue. I switch back and forth from extended network to Vzn and no signal at all. Sort of a dead zone.

Can't seem to get Netflix downloaded... Must need Wi-Fi or 4G to download it?? Not sure.. I have a Netflix acct and look forward to being able to use that app.

I was one of the fools that bought a screen protector. Now, I know the screen is basically nearly indestructible, but, I wanted to avoid any type of spillages that may happen.. Don't want a stick screen. On my last phone, I had a pen explode and got ink all over the screen (the protector) I'd rather avoid any issues there.

I'll be looking into getting accessories - Lap Dock and car dock. -- That should complete it for me as I already got a decent case. No need for an extended battery, I am always around a power source about 90% of the time.

Well I just left the store with mine and added the extended battery. I am enjoying this phone so far. I am out of town right now but headed back to my hotel to root this bad boy.
