Had my Bionic for three days now, and it's still sitting in the box. Not by choice, of course, but because Verizon has proved to be nothing but an issue this time around.
Let me preface this by saying that I've been a loyal Verizon customer for four years now and have never had a single issue with them. In fact, I've always found their customer service to be exemplary, especially when compared to my previous carrier.
So, with that said, I'm probably not quite as upset or angry about this as I might be otherwise. They've built up a certain level of trust in me over the years, and though this situation is annoying, it's not going to break it.
Here's the story...
I received my Bionic Friday afternoon. I got home late, had plans that night, so I decided to hold off and activate it on Saturday. Fired it up early Saturday afternoon, went through the activation process online, couldn't get the Bionic to budge from the "Please wait while your device is activated and restarted". Called Verizon, they couldn't explain it. Told me to hold off for about an hour and call back.
I did just that, to which I was told they still didn't know what was going on. The girl I spoke with told me she was going to forward the issue immediately to the tech department. I asked her if there was anyway they could temporarily restore service to me original Droid so that I'd have a working device. She said she was pretty sure that she could. I asked her to confirm that it wouldn't cause any issues with my activation and she assured me it was fine. She reactivated my Droid and told me to call back in the morning.
I called back Sunday morning and the guy I spoke with couldn't figure anything out. He forwarded me to the tech department where I spoke with a guy who finally seemed to get it. He informed me that there was nothing wrong with the activation process, it was simply bogged down because of the amount of Bionics being activated. He said the people I spoke with should have known that. Then, the bad news. When the girl I spoke with reactivated my Droid, she "retired" the 4G sim card in my Bionic, rendering it useless. Awesome. Guy sent out a priority overnight package containing a new SIM card, and now I have to wait until tomorrow to receive that, and (hopefully) get this thing activated.
Thankfully, the tech guy I spoke with gave me his contact information and told me that I am to go through him exclusively for this issue from here on out. He wasn't very impressed with the whole situation.
