I need this because all of my life, people have been breaking my stuff. Let me paint the picture for you -
I grew up with two younger brothers, who started the trend of breaking everything near and dear to me - toys, baby dolls, games, whatever. One of them microwaved Barbie (okay so I cut a hole in his WWF Ultimate Warrior wrestling buddy first). The other one set a large piece of furniture ON my hamster by accident when it escaped (RIP Brownie). When I was 13, I was gently, lovingly, big sisterly, making fun of one of my brothers, who responded by chucking a spoon at me. He had awesome aim. It hit my head, requiring a few stitches. The kid actually broke my head. Do you know what happens when your fellow middle school friends find out? THEY RUN AROUND LAUGHING THAT YOUR BROTHER SPOONED YOU!
It's not just them though. Things need protection around me in general. I've broken my left ankle 4 times in my life. I could have been the next Michelle Kwan, but we'll never know now will we?!
A few years ago, I was standing on a chair trying to fix curtains. I don't know what happened (I suspect poltergeist), but I fell off the chair, landing with the back of the chair between my legs. Yes, that's right. I broke.. well, you know. What if Droid had been around then? It would have been traumatized.
Even now, as an adult, my possessions seem to always be at risk. I lent my friend shoes, she broke a hell. My mom borrowed earrings and came home with one. Apple told me my ipod touch would cost $125 to fix the screen after my friend went down a sliding board, landed on his ass because he's 26 and shouldn't have been sliding down a sliding board, and broke it. But I have yet to fix it because I use my Droid for music now.
Which brings me back to the main point - my Droid. I mean, people, come on, it's a prized possession. Do you really want it out there in MY world, all vulnerable and exposed? I love showing my friends my Droid and watching their "It can do that?!" "It can do THAT?" No seriously, it does THAT?!" faces. But I'm telling you, one of these fools (myself included) is going to mar it forever unless it's protected. You can single-handedly save this Droid by picking me. Heroic, I say.
