[Theme] 928Droid Black Glass X for DROID 2 !!!

I really like this theme.. I can't get out of a boot loop.. I am running tranquility rom for almost a week and no issues. Any ideas? I wiped cache and did a full reset but everytime I get to the home screen it loops to android and will loop..
Tranquility rom? I didn't know there were any roms other than Epic.

Tranquility is P3Droids "deBlur'd" ROM, definately not gonna play nice with my Theme.

How do I install this? I removed the old vers of maps. Renamed the zip to update and ran it but didnt have maps installed after reboot. So I installed the new vers from market and ran update again but it didnt change the color.

The normal way to do it is to go to Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications - Look under "Downloaded Apps" and find the Market app you want to uninstall(update).. Select the app, you will most like have a button for "Uninstall Updates" instead of the normal "Uninstall" Button. Thissi because there is a Version in system/app. This is a good sign. So tap the "Uninstall Updates". THEN install the Patch?update zip and you should be good to go.

HOWEVER, in your situation it appears you have manually deleted one of the apps. Depending on if you did this in system/app...not good and a waste of time, because my Zip or Patch will overwrite that one anyway.... or in data/app (where normal Market apps are installed).

Either way, there is now only one way to really be sure both versions are deleted and clearded from the phone to elimiate conflicts. Follow these steps to get back on track.

You will need Root Explorer to do this easiest (all Rooters should have this app, if not GET IT).

#1- Go to system/app and look for Maps.apk. If it is still there, leave it. If it is not there, well it doesn't matter now, it just means you will lose any user data..not a big deal, if you have backed up Maps data via Titanium Backup (another Rooter must have).you can restore it AFTER installing the Patch/update

#2- Go to data/app and look for com.google.androidapps.maps.apk (or similar, just makes sure the last part of the file name is "maps") ...DELETE this file.

#3- Follow the original steps of going to Menu>Setings>Applications> Manage Applications and again look under downloaded for Maps...OR the file name you deleted ie. com.google.blahblah.maps.apk ... if you find either of those, open it and select "Uninstall" or "Uninstall Updates", which ever option you have.

After you have verified all of this then install the Patch/Update zip and you should be all good to go.

OH, in the future..when you see updates for Maps, Facebook, Twitter, Googe Search etc, try to be patient and give me a day or so to Theme those new versions....RESIST the urge to install these updates....IF you can :-)

I try my best to keep up with these, but I don't always catch them, so feel free to post here and say you saw it on the Market to make sure I am aware.

OH,OH,.... MAKE SURE you do not have these particular apps set to "Automatic Update".. the setting is in the Market for each installed app, just tap it and open it and you will see it at the top of the app description. This will save you(and me) a lot of headaches...and confusion.

I ended up just going back to my stock nandroid back up and using the theme. I love everything about it except the font being black on the black notification bar. I know I keep asking questions haha but how could i change the color atleast for the clock I could deal with the rest of black on black.

Still not working for me. I have tried everything in this thread and still can't get it to take.

I finally got mine to work, Dave, after you uploaded new files. Everything went great from there. Thanks a bunch.

You are installing the DeOdexed Theme on an Odexed ROM...please read the Theme FAQ in post one about knowing if you have an Odexed or DeOdexed ROM.

Uninstall ADW... you may have to also delete the file.

Don't know how I missed this theme until today....

Deodexing now (for the first time ever) - this theme just looked to cool to miss. Hope it all goes well for my install. :)

Theme download keeps starting/stopping...impatient!!

Man...deodexing is not for the impatient soul.......

Some adb issues...had to drop the leading "/" in the adb commands to copy deodexed files from SD card to /system (e.g., "cp /sdcard/done_app /system/app" had to be changed to "cp sdcard/done_app /system/app" to make the command work).

But finally got system files updated, rebooted (LONG reboot) and backed up deodexed version and applied theme and another LONG reboot and...

VICTORY IS MINE!

Man, this looks SO good. Everything is the right color/background. One of the best themes I've ever seen.

Donated.

Noticed a very nice present when I opened Gmail after updating to your ROM - it is the newer version (newer than the one in the stock D2 2.2.20 ROM) the one that has performance updates and the reply/forward icon option in the email header area. Thanks very much for including that! A great addition.

Also - the Voice Command app usually took 12 to 15, maybe as much as 20 seconds to open and be ready to accept a command...others reported similar launch times. After deodexing and applying your theme, it opened in four seconds. Did you change that apk with an alternate or newer one, or maybe just the deodexing?

I always strive to have the latest versions of apps like those included in my Themes... If newer version come out inbetween my Theme release versions I also supply individual Patch/Updates. For example a Themed version of the latest Maps 4.5 is currently available in the Extra area on the website. The next version release of my Themes will have that included as standard. FYI, I have been using the new Gmail 2.2.1 in my Themes for close to 2 months.
