Thunderbolt now or Bionic later?

Bionic may be the only Droid that get's the Android 2.4 Update of GB. It was updated strickly for support of the dual core processor. Why would TB get it if that is the case. TB is a 4g capable 3G technology. Gonna be stuck at the next OS update.
I'm holding out to see what the Bionic has to offer. That said, your point actually benefits the TB. Since the TB can be fully rooted, it will be able to run any future version that the hardware can handle. The Bionic is at the mercy of Motorola. It'd be ironic if the Dev's got 2.4 running on the TB before it's seen on the Bionic.

Yeah, but I don't see why TB would get 2.4 if it's mainly for support of the Dual Core Processor of which Bionic will be the first to have. Won't do any good on the TB

Just got back from the VZ store. Played around a bit with the TB. I should say I am not too impressed. It feels just too big for a phone but great to browse. It feels more like the ERIS. I think I will hold off for the Bionic.

Store models are never a very good test.... they're normally sluggish from never seeing a restart. As for size, the bionic is probably going to be just as big because of the dual core processor. Also, I would suggest going HTC if you like to customize your phone.

Had the Thunderbolt and returned it this morning. If that's the best HTC has to offer, I'll stick with Motorola, locked bootloader or not. Ill wait for the Bionic

Completely understand. I felt the same way till I actually got the phone. I love it and love Sense. It's defiantly a worth while phone.

Also, the Bionic is more or less the same size as the Thunderbolt.

If you felt the TB was too big, the Bionic is larger in every dimension except weight.

TB:
122mm x 66mm x 13mm 164g

Bionic:

125.9mm x 66.9mm x 13.3mm 158g

Not saying you shouldn't hold out for the Bionic, I've been going back and forth on this every day. I really like HTC Sense, and love the fact that the phone is completely open like my OGDroid, so it will have a huge developer following. On the other hand, I really like Moto's build quality (although HTC's isn't bad) and want to see what the Tegra 2 can really do. bah, I have no clue what i'm gonna do yet, but I'll likely hold out to check out the Bionic unless Verizon forces me to get a TB to avoid tiered pricing.

+1

I went to Verizon yesterday to play with a TB, and I didn't like it at all. The store model was very slow, and I reset it twice. I walked away and let it "cook" for about 10 minutes then tried it again, and it was still very slugish. If this is the best HTC can do, then I'll just keep my DX. It is way faster. Let's hope that Moto does a better job with the Bionic.

If your just going by the speed of a floor model then your mistaken. They need all kinds of maintenance that isnt done to them. They will alway be slow simply because of this..... Its a shame people dont realize this and get inferior devices because of it....

I like going into vzw stores and installing launcher pro and spare parts on all of the tablets/phones and turning the response speeds up to make them not seem like garbage lol

lmao does that actually help? figured they would need ALOT more help than that.... *cough* uninstalling Lookout/other antivirus on every single droid in the store would be a start *cough*

I feel the same way. I'm so used to the freedom of being able to tweak my D1, and the variety of developers that support it. I'm spoiled. It makes the TB tempting... but I also prefer Motorola's build quality (IE, screen)... though I don't want to give up the ability to hack my device. HDMI out is nice too... heck, I don't know either man. Have to wait until the Bionic drops and see how things go I guess.

It makes everything a lot snappier... I said helps it SEEM faster hahaha

Bionic is sweetness defined :) people will be pretty happy with the new blur. I predict a big seller with this phone. I can only imagine the ad campaign for this thing.

They always go all out for the Droids
