still gonna be locked down though..... such as shame to have such great hardware and then lock it like that.

I'm not getting it but I'm looking forward to seeing it released. I don't care about locked bootloaders anymore. I prefer it yes but hardware is more important to me now. No need to overclock with these Dual Cores anymore. Bloat will be removed via root so I'm good to go.

In a perfect world I will have an unlocked stock device. Maybe I will manufacture it myself

No need to no..... To be honest theres no need now other than to say we can. Biggest reason i care about a locked bootloader is because Moto is the only one to lock them down like that and the fact that android is supposed to be open.

Saw a rumor that it's going to be 1.5GHZ Dual Core, maybe quad core if pushed back, 12mp camera, 1.2mp ffc, and an unlocked option. Oh, and 1gb of ram.

It's the Targa and right now what i've been hearing is Q3 but of course that's subject to change.

I sure hope so. When I first saw your post about 1.5GHZ Dual Core and unlocked that's the first thing that popped into my head. That's why I asked if it had a targat release date of Q3 lol.

Ah, thanks for clarifying.... I don't keep up with upcoming phones because im locked into my d2g for another 20 months unless I can somehow come up with $600 for a new phone out of contract.....

Well, it almost seems too good to be true. If I could honestly put faith in a Q3 release I am *almost* tempted to wait. Two things are holding me back: 1) I'm on a Storm 1 and have had my upgrade waiting since August and can't stand it any more. 2) Even if these specs pan out I have a heard time believing (although I wish I could) that Moto will follow up the Bionic a couple of months later with the Targa that will upstage it. Maybe holiday season is a more realistic picture -- if so, I can't wait that long, sadly....

I'm kind of in the same boat. I have an original droid that I just updated to CM7 to give me something new to play around with while I wait. Was going to do the Thunderbolt...now waiting on the Bionic to see how it pans out...if the Targa is coming out around my NE2 date....then I might be tempted to wait a little longer. I'm dying waiting on upgrading to a new device...but am I kinda partial to the unlocked boot loader now that I have upgraded my Droid to a new ROM and I love what the developer has done with it
