Tips to Help Improve Battery Life on ThunderBolt

My Thunderbolt Battery Drain Crisis Is Over.

So Since Sunday Ive been running my phone in 3G vs 4G. And Man what a difference. Im averaging about 14 hours of battery time in 3G with Moderate to light use. And about 10 hours with Heavy Usage.

If I stick it in 4G Forget it.. It just sucks the battery down in about 2 hours. I love my Thunderbolt. and Im confident some how there will be a software patch to fix the mega drain while on 4G.

I work in a Radio Shielded building because of all the Radar sites around where I work. And I still am able to get about 2 bars of 3G inside, even in the basement. Took the Charger off around noon, and I got home at midnight and it was at about 33% battery left.. not bad considering. It gets "Almost" as good as my Moto Droid did.

Its sucky that you cant turn 4G on. But I can live with out it since I dont use the mobile hotspot or Tether. I really cant tell a difference surfing the net on my phone between 3G and 4G. not till I hook up to my PC then I see a HUGE difference.

So all in All.. Turn your 4G off and your Battery will be fine. and then pray they do something to allow the 4G not to suck the battery down.

I had some pretty huge battery problems with my first TB, ended up getting it replaced because the power button wasn't sticking out anymore and was getting hard to press.

New TB....it's been off the charger for 25hrs with light/moderate use and still has 43% battery. Huge improvement from the 1st one that dropped 35% in half an hour in my pocket doing nothing.

How could this be remedied with a software update? What more could HTC do that you cannot change with background data/app syncing adjustment?

Has anyone tried having juice defender (if it works for the TB) have 3G/4G off when the screen is off? I bet that would give a noticeable increase...it honestly helps my phone, more when in low signal areas than in good signal, but admittedly it helps.

Back on the subject of HTC and an update, what exactly can they do to fix this?

I wanted to first say thanks to guitarchris for the suggestions! 2nd wanted to share why- today I wanted to put my battery to a wide array of scenarios.
7am took phone off charger
730-5 light intermittent use (check emails, check facebook, , few short calls) at 5pm still had 90%
5pm-7pm moderate continued use (same as morning but did some web surfing, droid forum exploring) 7pm70%+
7-9 left it alone
9pm-12am heavy use with facebook chatting, had a half hour long video chat with daughter then more droid forum exploration.
12am the charge notification came up.(15%)

So, today with normal to slightly above normal usage I was able to get ~17 hours.

This was being solely on 3g during work hours and wifi the remainder of the time but I was not able to get this battery life without customizing my power restrictions.

I found that turning off sync isn't a big deal since most items sync, when you access them. I keep the screen brightness to 20% or lower unless I an in bright lighting conditions. Along with other smaller personal preference items. Wish everybody else the best customizing yours to fit your style!
