[Tutorial]Sysctl and you, A guide to better preformance and battery life.

Hey guys, if you guys are lazy as I am, you can just apply the attached zip. Should make all kernel related tweaks for you, as well as a cron job to flush caches once a day. Enjoy.

I don't know if the new values are accepted. I downloaded a new version of the toolbox from the market, and changed the values as indicated in the Sysctl Config.

(also, the sysctl support is checked, and the Oom Allocating Task is also still checked)

After reboot, the numbers "stuck", and are still there in SysConfig settings, but here is what I got after running the command in the terminal:

that doesn't look right (to me), because the only number I recognize is the 4096. Can you help decypher this for me?

thanks to all~

.

I am getting this in the Terminal readout too. I entered the # settings through Liberty Toolbox and they seem to stay when I reboot/restart my phone.

Am I good to go or do i need to try something else?

This zip causes auto rotate to not function correctly on my D2. Auto rotate is checked in settings but doesn't work with browser ect unless the physical keyboard is out.

I ran into the same thing. Haven't come up with a fix yet.

Yikes I think I know why. Will have a fix tonight. In the meantime you can restore build.prop from the rom zip file and reboot. Sorry about that.

No worries man. Thx for the efforts and lookin forward to a fix.

I can verify the toolbox method works on DX. About 8 hours on the phone, all BT, maybe 1 hour of mp3's, still had 30% battery. 1570 quadrant oc'd to 1.2. Installing the. Zip now.

I'll answer! :)

Yeah flashing over the old version is fine. To verify run the following command "pgrep -f crond". If you get a number as an output then the zip has been applied correctly.

BTW, I'll have a new version that fixes the wget problem later today.

Just want to make a quick clarification if I have both Liberty and Droid X Overclock I need to enable sysctl in both apps and set them the same? Or can I turn one off and use the other.

Or should I turn them both off and just run the zip?
