I'm completely new to custom roms and had no success on installing this one. Where could I find specific steps for installing on FRG22D?

the download on page 1 is not a nandroid !!!!it is a update.zip if using sp recovery and its a install rom from sd card if using clockwork
ENJOY UD8

who's a noob and has two thumbs? this guy. yep, ok so i just rooted my droid not to long ago. And have succesfully installed other roms. For some reason i cant seem to get this one successfully installed at all. is there something that i might not know as how to install this. Im familiar with the nandroid install and the update.zip. But neither seem to work with this. Can someone give a me a run down on how to do it. Just so i know i have my steps correct and that im doing the right thing. Thanks alot.

Do you boot into ClockWorkMod, wipe data and cache three times each, install UD8, when it boots log into your Google account, let UD8 redownload your apps. When you get that running Mbk was nice enough to port over a patch for the slow audio for some flash sites made by Billy Galbreath, you can get it at post 68 at the following link.

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/ultimatedroid/77258-flash-player-not-getting-along-ud-8-0-a-7.html

Just put that file on the root of your sdcard and boot into clockwork recovery and install. Then you might want to install an overclocked kernel, I use Chevy01 kernels but some people have better luck with other kernels. To manage over clocking you may want to download SetCPU from the market if you don't already have it. Hope this helps.

I cant even get UD8 to install in any situation. Thats why im asking the how-to. Use clockwork mod? nandroid? update.zip? i mean the files in the UD8 file that i dled from page 1 dont look like the normal nandroid files. lol, and its been driving me crazy for 3 days. I know i have the procedure down as far as flash and recovery. hah, but even so i must be doing something wrong. Once i unzip the UD8 file where do i put it on my sdcard? Thanks for the quick reply!

i can't switch the wallpaper from the gray UD wallpaper. Nothing happens when I choose a new image. Any ideas?

This was happening to me using Launcherpro. I switched from a Chevy 800 kernel to a P3 kernel and the issue was fixed. Hope this helps.

Quick question: every time i change wallpapers i have to reboot my phone in order to see the change. is this the way its supposed to be? just wondering...

Are you using launcherpro? I was having this issue using one of chevy's kernels. Switched to a P3 kernel and the wallpaper started taking effect immediately.

So much for that! Apparently this did NOT fix my issue with selecting a wallpaper and having the default wallpaper pop up. It seems to only have made the issue intermittent!

The icons are not missing, open the app drawer long press the icons and place them in the launcher.

Had to uninstall UD8. Couldn't get the camera (video) to work. Probably 'cause I dont know if there is a way to fix it....did a fix Permissions several times to no avail. Too bad 'cause I really liked everything else, except that Flash player would not work, but I found the fix for that, just couldn't live without video recording......
When they get the bugs out maybe I'll give it a try on version UD 21. Support seems to be a little lacking. There's a thread for it, but not well handled. And yes I did everything correct.
Wiped 3 times
Used SPRecovery....Just tooooo many bugs for me.

I just want to say that after flashing many roms this is without question the smoothest one that I've ever used. My battery life has increased and scrolling through screens has absolutely no lag what so ever! Thanx for a terrific rom and I'll be sending a donation your way soon.......

I could not agree more. I have tried cyanogenmod 6.0.0, lfy 1.6, saphire 1.1.1, bb (forget version but was newest at the time).

And you guys have no issues with the camera or video ???

Well its been about a week since I put UD8 on my Droid and I have to say it is the best ron I have used to date. Runs almost flawlessly..I have minor screen redraws every once in a while and I usually reboot the phone once a day when things slow down...but that is usually I'm the morning so its no big deal. Love it so far...tons of options. I am thinking software some features I would like to see added but there really isn't anything I can think of. Maybe more options foe thestatua bar.

as I said somewhere else... nope. Just tested and it works just like it should.

I recently started having redraws myself and here's how i fixed it:

In sprecovery make a backup of DATA only. Back out to the main menu. Wipe data and clear cache at least 3 times (yes I know some don't think this is needed but I beg to differ). Restore your newly created DATA only backup. My redraws stopped. Something must be building up in the cache that slows the whole system.

Lol, I hadn't checked that previously. No issues with either though. Am I supposed to have them? What type of issues?
