[Update] Verizon's New Family Data Plans Begin: It's Called the Share Everything Plan

You would have to upgrade his line to the phone you want and then do an ESN switch and cancel his data plan after activating the phone. You can not do an alternate upgrade, taking his upgrade for your line.

Or even easier go online and transfer the available upgrade to his line. It is pretty simple. Click transfer upgrade and pick the line to transfer it to.

Is that new? Everything I'm reading on the Verizon forums and places say since I'm on the same account he could just transfer upgrade..

and when I logged into his account, there was a button there that said transfer upgrade..didn't press it yet, cause I have to make sure It's ok with him lol

Yup read my post above.

High gas prices is a good example of how it is affecting the nation/world. My wife and used to travel a lot, but now we are limited due to our incomes not being able to compensate. So too bad for all those businesses we used to patronize. Much like the Internet and the businesses that interact with it.

Same was said for years about US Properties shall never fail... What happened to that one? High Gas prices? Ok, let's explore this through and how I am going to keep on base everything with "General Well Being of the people". We as human beings have been poor and selfish with trying to save Global scarcity such as Oil. High gas prices is short term as the hike caused us to tinker deeper in inventing smarter Green Technologies such as Electrics and Hybrids which to me are good thing as this also created Thousands of Jobs. If you are willing to move to these green cars, then there are no reason for you to limit the way you travel . With using less of gas in the future, oil become less of a dependent and this will lead to lower oil price and perhaps hike in PV/ electric bill. Since the high price of Gas, many sheiks and Oil Tycoons been involved in business all over the world in means to transfer their wealth somehow to the masses again instead of keeping them inside a bunker (safety and longevity of what they can do with oil is in their mind ofc :icon_evil:). Since 2001, Businesses had been trying to patronize us . It just too bad that they are dealing with bunch of smart people in this society. BP spill recovery wouldn't be working as well as today, if us the people, didn't patronize them to fix the disaster. You can go ahead compare BP spill disaster to Lapindo disaster in Indonesia :happy3:. This is telco carriers plan as well so that our government would approve their needed spectrum approval quicker. Fear Mongering works people!

Hmm I was hoping the Razr HD would be out before they did this.. So what makes the best sense for me, as I am do for an upgrade, but still want unlimited? Pre-order S3 for $199, sell it when it comes in for close to $575 or whatever brand new, and then wait till HD comes out or another phone I want, and buy at retail?? Do most phones retail around the $600 range?

That is exactly what I am doing. Posted it a few back. Since I have no intention of ever renewing any of our contracts and the RAZR HD won't drop before the 28th, I am gonna take my two available upgrades and transfer them to my two unlimited lines. Pre-order two S3's and flip them. Bank the profits for a later full price upgrade. Not in any hurry as I am happy with my Maxx for the time being. Next year I will have two more upgrades available and I will do the same. That will hold me over for four more years of unlimited on two lines.

Honestly I bet samsung isn't going to drop another supposedly bad reception phone this fast (I say supposedly because I never used the nexus). A Samsung galaxy S 3 with extended battery will be one hell of a phone mate, top of the line.

Still won't be better than my Maxx in regards to reception and battery life. And ICS will be here soon enough. Samsung got me with the GN. Not again.

It may be as good as the maxx battery wise :-) of course I'll never know hehe. When I had a 3,000+mah Seidio on my original epic it was amazing. Obviously that's apple to oranges but I must say my maxx battery is acting a fool lately. Honestly it's never been as good as my Seidio was, but I'm assuming it's the maxxs CPU and coverage differences.

On a side note it's really disheartening to see certain devices reportedly having such chronic problems, almost like they don't bother doing appropriate testing.

verizon loves you

or rather loves taking your cash cause they're practically the cdma monopoly

looks more like the verizon greed screws everybody plans

thank goodness for prepaid

How does this work or you are not getting the new Verizon's policy? Once the new Share Data Plan apply on June 28, your Upgrades will be turn to ashes unless you are willing to drop your unlimited data. For which to me, you want to keep it for a foreseeable future. If you have 2 upgrades now, then you need to utilize it now and profit the 2 SGS phone in hope for not paying much money for the phone you want in the near future. There is no such thing as upgrading phone any longer if you have Unlimited data as you can change phones to your liking any time. The phones are no longer subsidized folks as in not bind to Verizon!!! All you need to worry about is if the phone you purchased came with Clean ESN. You are stuck with what you have and will come to month to month contract basis. This is also a warning for those that use massive data usage, as once your 2 years contract expired, Verizon have the right to kick you out.

I think most of you simply don't get it.

Verizon makes the rules.

The only thing Verizon must do - is to honor existing contracts.
If you had unlimited data on a two year contract, then once the contract has expired Verizon has no obligation to honor the old contract - no obligation at all.

Verizon could declare that everyone with umlimited-Data now only have 2GB/month effective immediately.

I think the only reason Verizon honors old contracts is that they want customers to stay sleepy.
Most people are busy and don't want to change anything.
Once there is a change forced upon them, they will tend to comparison shop - and Verizon might lose customers.
So Verizon tends to let expired contracts keep going at the same price/term.
But, Verizon does not have to do this.

BTW, my family (2 iphones @2GB/each, one Rezound@4GB, and 1 flip phone) does not have unlimited data, and if we moved to the new plan there would be very little difference in cost. We'd all have 2GB each, unlimited calling versus shared 700 minutes, and continue to have unlimited texting. It would be nice to not ever worry about talking too much. So, I do not see this affecting me much.

Bottom line - Verizon is curtailing/ending unlimited data.
Get used to it or go find another cell phone company to do business with.

Agreed, but they are still screwing us over. Sprint and Tmobile are the only other national carriers that have unlimted plans thats if you get any coverage at all from them. Sprint is on its last leg because it has big legacy like VZW with CDMA and with their mediocre coverage and lack of capital and capacity its only time they will have to cap or else go belly up. Tmobile is a similar situation and if they get the iphone its all over.

You people need to understand that all carriers are trying to get a handle on the enormous data usage curve that is growing exponentially. Its doing this by increasing usage fees.

My 2 cents

Currently, I'm the only one using smartphone with unlimited 3G data plan and 3 other family members have feature phones. It costs around $170 every month. If I were to change to feature phone (totaling 4 feature phones), how does the pricing work? Do we still have to pay $50 for the unlimited voice and unlimited msg + 1GB data? or is there alternative? because AT&T's plan sounds so much more attractive right now...

I've no need for unlimited minutes. We don't even come close too using our 700.

Based on our data usage it is about a wash.

Hope mine is still Grandfathered.

I have 3 smartphones with unlimited Data...and unlimited Texts.. it is 147 a month total.. I do not want to Switch. I have a Current 2 yrs signed agreement.. and if they break that , I am not obligated to them. I could just drop them, and walk away.
