[Update] Verizon's New Family Data Plans Begin: It's Called the Share Everything Plan

Just curious...I only get 3g in my area. We are suppose to have 4g by the end of the year. Does 4g consume more data?

Transfering the upgrade will make your account sign a new two year contract in which you would lose unlimited data as it is not an option any more. Basically you would be forced into a tiered data plan.

I already confirmed this with my buddy at verizon who is exceptionally knowledgeable about their plans and how to get a, round things like this.

but if I do it before those plans go into affect I still should be good I thought

ABSOLUTELY, lots more, double it up compared to what you use on 3G.

That's what I thought. So all of these people who are using 3g devices when they go to 4g devices and data may not like the plans as much as they think. Probably not even thought about that.

ALL DEPENDS!!! IF you own a home internet with speed of ~15MB plus then NO!

If you Own a Phone that still Single Core and under 4" then No!

If you like to travel on the road alot then Yes!

If you don't like to get to know around Internet much and be old skool type of a person then NO!

If you don't do Video Conferencing much then No!

many more circumstantial events need to happen why you change your usage behaviour.

This will help those that new to Verizon aka fall under Tiered data plan and if you have more than 3 Smartphones and used limited amount of datas then this will help save you money! At first (due to 3G era) their required $30 data plan was stupid and outrageous as I want to use Wifi Instead. But with 4g.... Different Story :rofl2:

No. The same data doesn't magically double from 1 meg to 2megs. You may find, because it's a more enjoyable experience, that you browse more and use it more. I don't know if the default setting is to download embedded video, which caching would increase data (but you should be able to uncheck that, I think).

Even when I'm off wifi a fair bit I still don't go much over 1gig. The people who use lots of data, legally, are mostly (I said mostly, don't flame me because you're an exception and think you're the norm) people watching a ton of netflix and/or streaming pandora a fair amount (hi-def is @ 60megs /hr, so 16hours a month would be 1 gig, so if you like to play Pandora at the gym you can hit 2gigs).

Now I have the Rezound, and got a 64gig card for my music, so I don't play a lot of Pandora and don't watch video.

With 2gigs you'd have to budget it, but it's manageable (doh! you only get 1gig for $30, what a joke). Agree with most that 4gigs is much more reasonable for $30. The only real explanation is that VZW sees demand exceeding capacity, so in the near term their only option to continue to provide quality service is to raise prices. So they don't care if they don't get 100% of users on smartphones. They don't care if the data hogs leave. Because they see capacity constraints they'll settle for charging a premium to the 80% of customers who don't have issue with the caps.

Myself personally, I only went once over 2 gigs once since back in the days of my frst smartphone the HTC Incredible, the 2 gigs happened two months ago while I was out on the road a bit more than usual, and that was from streaming music, while I am at work or home I use wifi, my home wifi just smokes, it is faster than my 4G LTE connection, well of course I have THE Verizon Fios 35/35MB plan.

I'm sorry but what does having a single core processors or qual core processor and having a 4" or less have to do with consuming data?
With a single you might load pages slightly slower... But you realize that processing power and data consumption are irrelevant... Neither does have a larger or smaller display... I have no idea how that relates to more internet usage

may I ask, how did you get a 64gig micro SD Card to work on your Rezound, I thought only 16&32 gig cards worked.

:icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek: you must be rich!

How do you come to that conclusion? And what does that have to do with me saying that I'm one of the few that will be saving money?

Here's how it breaks down for me.
$70 for my plan
$10 for her's
$60 Data ($30x2)
$10 Text for her
$20 nationwide access ($10x2)
=$170
New plan
$80 (2 phones)
$50 1 gb data
=$130
Difference $40

I'm not including taxes and fees or my 22% corp discount. I kept it simple. When factored in it's still about a $40 savings.

This sounds to me that you are talking about illegally using tethering without paying to Verizon? aka Foxfi etc... Am fine with it not judging... but go ahead tell Verizon that . Display always matter hence smartphones are getting bigger from 3.7 to 5 inches as it enables convenience to elders. Single core can't outperfom dual core plus.. What I meant by this is that there is no chance for you to access Netflix with the phone. Why would you download massive datas for Games when that game itself can't play on the phone????? So yes it does matters sir dancedroid

ok, we're good now lol...

Also asked the support team on Twitter, and they answered me back as well saying as long as I did it before then I'd get it to keep it....looking at their twitter feed they are in some serious damage control
