No. We need to show them who actually has the Power, as stated in our Constitution and Preamble.
If there is no traffic or next to no traffic, then it should show them that if they do this, then we will no longer go online. And Google shows them that they will leage the internet dead by not continuing (at least until some government agency makes something like Google. But we all know how messed up obamacare is. So imagine how messed up that will be too).
First our freedom of speech goes, then everything else. Makes me sick to my stomach that I fought for these bastards. If they are going to do away with our rights and Constitution -what our Country is based on - what exactly is the point of even having our Constitution?
They've been chipping away at our freedom a little here and a little there for a long time. Especially with the obama administration. And it needs to stop. And it needs to stop NOW!
(Kinda brings home some of my signatures, huh? )

Isn't it funny how when you put the word "The" and the word "IRS" together, it spells "theirs? " Coincidence? I think not.
Ladies and Gentlemen this is a GREAT thread and we strongly encourage EVERYONE to participate and voice their opinions.
This is just a friendly reminder to please stay off of anything that may be misconstrued as being political i.e pointing the finger at the repubs or dems, this guy or that guy. As you all know that never goes well
Thank you for being considerate.............
Great topic and conversation. Keep it going.
We will shut off your internet connection is all. Nothing too serious.....So let me get this straight... You and the mods keep stepping in and saying that if the conversation about censorship goes in a direction that you do not approve of, that you will censor us here in the forum?
Kinda ironic, no?

Piracy aside, technical aspects aside - what about due process? Nobody's mentioned that.
This bill would allow a website to be taken down without even notifying the owner. And then, once it is taken down, they can appeal to get it back. (Also, for anybody who wants to claim this is not true - try me. I've read the bill and it clearly states this)
In America, we are innocent until proven guilty. Not the other way around.
What right do you have to pirate music, apps, games and movies?
So, if you step up and say something about protecting your 1st amendment rights, you are a pirate? Wow.
Nobody is against the concept of the legislation. The problem lies in the vague open ended language of the legislation. If censorship is allowed, the mechanism is in place to be abused in the future. Btw, check out how many SOPA and PIPA sponsors are in potential violation of the same legislation they are trying to pass. They don't understand it, but they are going to vote on it?

This does not deserve a response from me. So, therefore, I will not respond.
Instead I will say thank you to everyone who had my back on that.

While I like the internets the way it is, I do realize that we brought this on ourselves, from decades of downloading billions of dollars of music, games, apps, operating systems, movies, etc... We all did it, we all knew it was technically illegal and we had to expect that sooner or later, the people we have been stealing from would get fed up and fight back. And now we cry Free Speech and demand to be able to keep breaking the law?
I still download stuff, but at least I am honest enough to say that I know that I don't have a good leg to stand on legally or intellectually. My stance is purely selfish and I admit that.
I agree with what your're saying somewhat but the MPAA and RIAA are exaggerating the so call 'loss' they have. Newspaper is a dead medium, the industry doesnt want to admit so they blame bloggers, social media etc for posting 'copy right' stuff. i think we have a 'fair use' clause right? Movie theaters are dinosaurs, who goes there much? I still go once in a blue moon. its pricey, you have to deal with lines, rude people. and with the crazy size TV that are out and ppl are buying them up with HD streaming. where is the reason to go to the movies? Yet the MPAA say its pirating that is 'causing' the 'loss' of revenue. etc etc. Sales of DVD,Blu rays are up. mp3 sales are up. I mean if there isnt a profit in mp3 there wouldnt be an iTune music store or a netflix. i have yet to see a recording artist starve due to pirating. they starve because they spend like it never ends. In the end MPAA and RIAA wants to control and make $ on ALL sites or they will get shut down.
Yes, you go to a court (or maybe just a judge - I forget) and ask them to take down the website. It is still not required that the site be notified, and even if they are, they have just three days from the date of a claim being filed to appeal - which is not a realistic amount of time to get a lawyer and seriously review the claim.I thought an amendment in December changed that to where it has to at least be court ordered?
