You do realize that all the people who say they are going to jump ship over this mean nothing to VZW in the grand scheme of things.
Not to mention everyone who does jump ship and switch over to another carrier - you don't see them doing the same thing in the long run?
More customers / more network traffic / more money required to maintain it. Sprint / AT&T / T-mobile / etc - they will all do the same thing.
Unlimited data is an outdated concept in their eyes and in their profits.
It's just a matter of time. Get used to it. Use wifi where you can. Don't use your phone for a home modem.
Control your usage and in all honesty you can keep yourself into a reasonable data plan.
This is not the end of the world. And if you view it that way , you are waaay too tied into your phone
If it were simply a matter of everyone doing the same thing in the end it would be one thing, but honestly the only thing VZ had going for them was unlimited data. Service coverage is pretty good for almost every one of the big four in most metro areas, so we're even there. Data plans are going to be similar for everyone, so we're even there. So what's left? The phone situation.
VZ has consistently gotten worse and worse about phone selection. No decent Samsung devices with the exception of the Nexus, no decent HTCs except the Rezound with the One likely never to show up, no decent offerings from Sony, and increasingly locked down Motos. So why stay? I get the same service, the same data availability, and better phones on every other network. What the hell is the point of having the high-speed streaming abilities of 4G with such a low data cap? Even just with Google Music I would probably be over my limit if I weren't on wifi so often. If this goes down VZ better get some kick-ass, unlocked phones or I'm Audi 5000.
