Verizon announces HTC Thunderbolt with March 17th release date

Tegra 2 still had its ass beat in everything Anandtech posted during the iPad 2 preview CPU tests and the GPU test.

I find it more than a bit funny that before, when Tegra2 bested the iPad in every test, you claimed that tests didn't matter. Now that the iPad2's new hardware + a new rendering engine is putting up great scores, you're gung-ho about them.

Nevertheless, what you say is not true. This is the CPU review:

So they were nearly identical in Sunspider and the Xoom beat it in browsermark.

Regardless, it's a non-sequitur for the purposes of this thread: you're saying you like the TBolt even though it's not dual-core, because the PowerVR GPU bested the Tegra2 GPU. That does not logically follow. All that matters is whether or not the dual-core implementation in a TBolt would be better than the current one. No idea why you are spinning things based on your preference, but don't distort the facts to justify it.

A question about the $29.99 4G data plan. I'm already paying that for 3G on my D1, will this be in addition to that or replace my current data plan?

lol no that would be carrier suicide. That is including 3G AND 4G access. And they have said that they will "throttle extreme users" a month or so ago, so i wouldnt try to tether it to your ps3 so can frag kids on MW2 haha.

Just stopped by my local Verizon store and they had a Tbolt hidden behind the counter I played with. Skype does not have video calling sadly, but I did run a speed test and with 2 bars of 4G I got 8mbits down and 20mbits up, ran it twice.

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. Thanks!

$150 for the TB with my $100 NE2 discount + 29.99/month for unlimited data for 2 years!?!? Sounds like christmas came early this year... it feels weird seeing verizon acknowledge this phone after all these months of waiting.. I was honestly thinking this phone would never be released

Anybody hear of an extended battery?

Seidio 1600 mAh (looks like it fits standard back)
Seidio 2750 mAh (comes with a different back)

After seeing this BatteryBoss Calls Out False Capacity Claims! I have decided to just go with stock or stock extended, the actual MAH on the seidio and Gorilla batteries as well as other smaller companies just seem to round up a thousand or so.

I wouldnt mind a bump on the back, and doubling my battery size IF it doubles my battery life, but sadly, it doesnt seem to.

Anyone know if there will be a limit to mobile hotspot when your rooted??

I'm sure there will be, root doesn't change mobile hotspot.
But if it can tether wirelessly when rooted it should just use your phone data plan, but they said they will throttle extreme users...
