Verizon announces HTC Thunderbolt with March 17th release date

this phone will be amazing once it's released... 4.3 screen, ffc, new sense data and voice at the same time... all great features.

won't the data and voice be available at the same time on 3g?
No. Voice and Data will only work if you have access to LTE and 3G. LTE is for data, 3G is for voice.

From what I have heard it will have voice and data over 3g.

I believe you are close on your statement, but voice doesnt go over 3G, you can even turn off mobile data (2G/3G) and still make calls. Not sure on the terminology of how it actually works though.

With the latest revision A of EVDO you can do both voice and data over 3G. Voice does go over 3G with rev A and the TB is compliant with the new rev. Check it out on google if you don't want to take someones word for it.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the info!

Does anyone know if phones purchased through wirefly ship with a SIM card, or is that something we need to obtain from VZW?

Also, how do you activate it once it is received? I've never purchased a phone outside of VZW retail branches.

i just hung up my phone from the best phone call i've gotten today...

i called corporate to see if it was possible to get the thunderbolt on a new line for the 2 year price and then switch my current number over to the thunderbolt... i got a yes. then i asked if i could get the new number transferred to my incredible and then get the lowest plan possible (no data or texting on it) and got a yes. i was about to ask another question and i asked if i could be put on hold because the manager was nearby.

i hold for 3 minutes.

he picks up and says since i've been with verizon for as long as i have been the manager said i would be able to upgrade early since he switched my upgrade date! awesome!

anyway... before hanging up i asked if data pricing would be tiered and gave examples of pricing and he said my information was 100% wrong... he read an email this morning saying data would be unlimited.

guess i'm back to waiting for this phone like everyone else here... i hope i'm not making a mistake in getting it. if so... i'll still have my incredible as a backup

Guys, Guys, the $29.99 for unlimited 4g includes 3g, I promise, meaning, if you have unlimited 3g right now, when you go to buy this phone you will pay NOTHING EXTRA FOR DATA, and now that you will be grandfathered in with unlimited 4g, if 4g pricing changes in the future, the 30 per month you are paying for unlimited 4g and 3g will not change unless you upgrade your existing handset after those prices have changed.

I was told at Verizon that the data plan was going to be more then I found this:

Initially, Verizon will be selling it with an unlimited 4G data plan, but spokeswoman Brenda Raney says this option will probably go away later this year, along with the rest of Verizon's unlimited data plans.

My NE2 is late July, so I'm waiting until then. I just hope that if tiered pricing starts after that, that they publish the tiered pricing structure before the switchover. I only use about 500MB a month in a max month, so if I could get 1GB for $20 then I would wait for that.

But if they did that wouldn't that constitute a contract change that would allow you to walk away free-of-charge?

I think she said the "option" will go away. To me that means if you've got it, you're good, if not, you don't have that choice... right?
