I think what is really upsetting isn't just the reduced speed itself. I agree that unlimited means unlimited and there are no provides of speed. However, verizon claiming this is about better service to the masses, is absolute b.s. Do they really think that we are that stupid? It is about money. If they said they wetter going to reduce the speed for everyone over 2GB during a congested time, I think it would be easier to swallow but when they specifically target unlimited users, it is crap. If I only use 3gb, I will be in that group that gets reduced speed but my neighbor who just signed up and chose to pay $50 for 5gb, gets his full speed even though he is using more data. So it has nothing to do with congestion and better service to others, it is about the money they make off of you. They are hoping people will change from unlimited to a tiered data plan at a higher price if speed is important enough to them.
