Dude it is unlimited...they are just slowing it down. This thread has gotten ridiculous. Done with it.

How do you abuse an UNLIMITED data plan?? I feel like if it is unlimited they should let you use it as much as you want! I am definitely not in the top 5% but it should not be called unlimited if they are limiting it

You're missing the point...you still have unlimited data, they're just going to reduce speeds for some

Completely obvious!!!! You're forgetting that YouTube and I'm pretty sure Netflix will push more data based on your connection speed, and streaming sites like South Park Studios.com. I rarely just straight download a file. It's really about the streaming services. Plus I can do a whole lot more surfing if I can load a page faster.

I also barely ever get on WiFi, unless I want to use smartshare.

Exactly...MORE surfing. Which is why you used more. Speed has nothing to do with it. Your youtube example is only correct when high quality becomes a factor. A high quality youtube video uses the same amount of data regardless if its done over 3 or 4G

Yes. I don't know why people have the idea that 4g uses more data than 3g. The only difference between the two is SPEED.

I think what is really upsetting isn't just the reduced speed itself. I agree that unlimited means unlimited and there are no provides of speed. However, verizon claiming this is about better service to the masses, is absolute b.s. Do they really think that we are that stupid? It is about money. If they said they wetter going to reduce the speed for everyone over 2GB during a congested time, I think it would be easier to swallow but when they specifically target unlimited users, it is crap. If I only use 3gb, I will be in that group that gets reduced speed but my neighbor who just signed up and chose to pay $50 for 5gb, gets his full speed even though he is using more data. So it has nothing to do with congestion and better service to others, it is about the money they make off of you. They are hoping people will change from unlimited to a tiered data plan at a higher price if speed is important enough to them.

They are not targeting unlimited users. The top 5% of data users regardless of what they pay for it.

It doesn't matter if you are unlimited or pay 80 bucks for 10gb. If you are in that 5% of heavy data users.(not heavy data users on an unlimited plan) you're getting throttled.

Yeah but that still doesn't make it ok to only target unlimited users. Its like going to an all you can eat buffet and the manager saying, "oh wait, yes it is all you can eat but you have to use this 4 inch dessert plate and only one plate at a time......but make as many trips as you want." And them someone else walks in and orders off the menu that includes the salad bar and they get a 20 inch platter to fill up.

Yea..I assume it because there's so many people on 3g compared to 4g...any probably 80% of which are on unlimited plans. But I feel you.
