I don't know if this has been mentioned, its late and I don't feel like reading the whole thread.
Has anyone even read verizons web page regarding this network optimization strategy?
They state that this is not throttling. In their terms throttling is when your speeds get retained for a billing cycle. This practice is only in affect during peak times, when a certain cell area is congested, etc.
My understanding may be wrong but from what I read you won't be affected by limited speeds at every moment once you pass this "2 GB" (which I assume is just a posted metric to make people observe their data behavior) limit or top 5% tier, whichever it may be for that month's statistics. It will only impact heavy users when other people need the network as much as you do.
So why does everyone keep shouting "throttle bad, throttle bad! Its not unlimited!" Just calm down. And before you make useless inferences, wait and see how it really works. Or track your dl/ul speeds throughout all times when you pass the imposed limit before you can scream unfair practice.
