Verizon is Raising Prices on Grandfathered Unlimited Plans by $20

I do.... I'm over 30gig 2 weeks into my current billing cycle.

Not having to worry about data usage, or jumping on WiFi wherever I go is worth the price increase to me. While I admit it IS steeper than I would like, all things considered, I'm still coming out ahead.
Looks like somebody watches a lot of YouTube on their phone.

Can't get enough of those cat videos huh?

I'm irritated with Verizon customers more than Verizon because of the sense of entitlement. You're not in contact and they even let you keep it longer than they had to. Class action lawsuit? Pfft. For what?
My bill is $155 a month including my employer discount, for one line! 1400 mins a month and my grandfathered account or a phone that cant do data and voice at the same time. Dont you think i have some entitlement by getting pissed off at the fact that they want to push me out by increasing my plan? Wouldn't you be pissed if you were paying that much?

I generally use 12 - 17gb a month, while my daughter (being of the youtube generation) easily uses 20 - 30. I have the Project Fi invite, but my daughter has an iPhone, so that's not a viable option. Other networks in the area are about as good as what we have with Big Red, but for the volume we use, it's not going to be a wise move. Ces't la vie............

I wouldn't be paying that much. With FREE NIGHTS AND WEEKEND and free VZW to VZW calls, do you really need 1400 minutes?

No offense man. Seriously. But that is far and away the most insane data usage I've ever seen.

GO OUTSIDE! CALL A FRIEND! STOP STARTING AT YOUR PHONE SO MUCH!
:D

How can you watch THAT MUCH YouTube?!?! Almost a HALF GIG on Speedtests? A HALF GIG! What are you doing? Checking your Speed every single place you go?
I have to assume you don't have WiFi at home?
And that's only HALF the month?!?!

There are people on vzw that use TERABYTES of data each month. That's 750 HD movie downloads at 1.3gb EACH MONTH. So if you think 50-60gb is a lot, you have no idea.

Yes, I do have WiFi at home. really that isn't that much YouTube...maybe 30-45 min a day, usually in the evenings before bed. I'm subscribed to about a dozen channels that I follow regularly. Everything from tech reviews, to fitness channels....the data adds up quick. As for the speed tests, I have been doing a few each week lately, simply to check out the new XLTE speeds around town, at home, work etc.
That said, the amount of data I use is irrelevant.
We all use our devices differently. I'm not on Facebook as that's a waste of time imo. Yet others would disagree with that statement and I'm ok with that. [emoji41]

You and I have very similar usage, except I normally top out around 30 GB by the end of the month. With Spotify, I've been using even less data as I have it sync songs I like to my phone over WiFi (I wish YouTube had a similar feature that would allow you to cache your subscriptions). This is the reason that I can't really consider Project Fi, and I have strongly been considering T-Mobile the past few months.
I suppose this has been a long time coming, though. Verizon won't really miss its unlimited customer base, anyways.

What you do with your data is your business. Naw, 30 mins a day is not really anything major as that is a typical lunch break.

So let me get this straight...

A bunch of people that are on old plans that were gotten rid of years ago, are whining because they want to keep paying 2008 prices in 2015 for a plan that is no longer offered?

LOL

If I were you, I would consider myself lucky to have gotten that plan as long as you did.

And 90% of you that claim you are leaving... please... You aren't going anywhere.

If your only reason for staying was Unlimited data that you could tether and abuse... you aren't going to get that anywhere else... so leaving will accomplish nothing more than downgrading to another network...

Just get on tiered programs and stop using your phone as a home ISP hotspot.... You got away with it for years, and now it ends.

Yeah, same here regarding Project Fi. My usage varies quite a bit from month to month. Sometimes YouTube is consuming the most data, sometimes it's iHeart Radio, Pandora, Netflix or a combination of a half dozen various media apps. I really don't use my smartphone or tablet anymore or less than most of the enthusiasts on our forum....I simply utilize my devices differently. A lot of folks spend hours upon hours each day on their device, but oftentimes it's on a forum, Facebook, or other social media. It just so happens much of the time I spend online consumes a lot of data. [emoji38]

Amen... I still have my UD on 2 lines. I'm so happy to keep it, that I don't care about the increase. We all knew that eventually they were gonna make a change. This is better than we could hope for. Plus you can now get a new phone, without the old bait and switch[emoji1]

Let's try and look at it another way........ with everything else staying the same (minutes & texts) if an unlimited plan was offered for $49.99/month/device, what would you think?

Unthrottled, could be the wave of the future.

If it was truly unthrottled and unlimited I would but I would also drop my cable internet which I pay $30 a month for.

Some of us don't use our phones as home ISPs. I use around 6GB a month. I will be dropping Verizon. It's an unnecessary expense. I'm around a computer all day, I can check email/web/etc from them. instant gratification of posting on Facebook, Instagram, twitter isn't for me. I don't use them so a phone that calls and texts will work perfectly.
