verizon just sent me an update to 5.9.901

Yep ! Thanks that'd be great! I'll PM you my web server address. You can upload it there. I just need to make sure the 4ev3r root app has worked. I'm already rooted using pete's one click. Another story. Thanks again

Sent from my BIONIC out in the boonies of TN while picking a guitar!

sounds good, I'll be lookin' for it!

Haha, im pretty sure that he meant that as a joke.

Can you confirm that this was in reference to the .901 update sent yesterday?

I don't mean to speak for Shadez, but back when the update was originally announced as a 2-part update; no one had any idea whatsoever about which versions the updates would be.

So what general overall changes are people experiencing with this new upgrade?

My data is working 100% better. I had places in my house where i would completely lose data before and now it stays locked on not one drop since I upgraded. I had worse data drops after the 5.5.893 update than before. I am very happy with the phone on 5.9.901. I think my battery life might be better also but I not for sure on that one yet.

Cool ty :) Will check again when phone is charged.

I'm still praying someone realllllllllly smart finds a way to update this on top of 5.7.893 because I doubt Motorola is going to unlock our bootloaders for us to do it with the ways some people have stated.

I'm right there with you. Hopefully, eventually, someone will find a way.

I've given a lot of thought to this. It's not going to happen with this update. And here's a good reason why. It's a patch. Meaning that *EVERYTHING* *MUST* match so that each item can be patched, including the kernel. If anything is not at the expected version, patching it will fail. So it makes sense that they have a lot of checks and assertions in there...it's to prevent a bad flash. So, unfortunately, we have to look elsewhere to get off 5.7.893.

Yeah, my only hope is some of the devs out there already flashed the leak and are trying to find a way out if it.

You won't like this next comment....they did find a way out of it. Most of them dropped the Bionic like the plague and grabbed a GNex. Honestly, if we don't have a solution by February, I'm probably right behind them.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm stuck with my bionic for 2 years now:(

Technically so am I. However, adding a line for 10 bucks a month seems like a small price to pay (ok, a 240 dollar price to pay over 24 months :D) to get a GNex at discount pricing. And then having a true google experience phone with an unlockable bootloader. It's becoming more and more attractive of an option.
