verizon just sent me an update to 5.9.901

Technically so am I. However, adding a line for 10 bucks a month seems like a small price to pay (ok, a 240 dollar price to pay over 24 months :D) to get a GNex at discount pricing. And then having a true google experience phone with an unlockable bootloader. It's becoming more and more attractive of an option.

Yeah, that's an option, I've thought about that too.

cmon guys. Stick with the bionic. its fast, smooth and honestly the construction in much better than the GNex. Atleast wait until ICS hits the Bionic then go from there

That's why you should always buy your phone from Costco. Then you have less to worry about when it comes to being stuck.

I had to buy from Verizon, I broke my D1 before my upgrade was ready and had to take an early upgrade.

SAMURAIHL,don't tell me you have a bad news for me!!:frown:

If you're looking to get off 5.7.893 without buying a new phone then no, I don't have good news for you, that's for sure. At least not with this update. We can only hope Moto/VZW takes mercy on us and releases an update SPECIFICALLY for 5.7.893 that puts us back on the upgrade path. Otherwise, in 2 months you'll be seeing me talking about my new birthday present. Hint....it rhymes with "DFlex" :D

If we're off the upgrade path, I don't think we would even get the official ICS update.

Not a chance am I waiting that long. If we don't have a way off 5.7.893 in 2 months then I'm moving on. ICS won't be released until May/June for the Bionic.

IMO, go in verizon and tell them that ur bionic has been dropping calls and ur already on ur second SIM card. theyll tell u to do a battery pull and and factory reset. come back 3 days later and say u did that stuff and u jts dropped another call.

My data is working 100% better. I had places in my house where i would completely lose data before and now it stays locked on not one drop since I upgraded. I had worse data drops after the 5.5.893 update than before. I am very happy with the phone on 5.9.901. I think my battery life might be better also but I not for sure on that one yet.

My battery is a bit higher than it usually is at this time. And for a given number of signal bars, my 4G speeds seem to be quite a bit faster. Aside from that, biggest difference is the added bloatware. They STILL haven't fixed the issue where the 4G indicator stays there when on wifi.

I spent a lot of time on it last night. As I just posted a little while ago it occurred to me why none of these updates will work for us. They are designed to *PATCH* existing versions. They aren't doing a full install. So they're patching the boot image. Patching the system, etc, etc. If you aren't on the same version that they're patching, it will REALLY screw your phone up which is why they have so many assertions in there. Patching the wrong version of something will break it. So we need either a full update or a patch update that is made specifically for 5.7.893. Good times, yea? :)
