Thanks for the welcome!! I'm just glad to hear the updates are still rolling out. I don't mind waiting as long as I know they are on the way. I was getting worried some forums were saying they might not be released anymore because of problems!!

Yeah, I was planning to wait until the 15th (or until an official word) to make a decision on manual installation.

Like I said in the other thread, I wont hold my breath If I were you. I do not trust that the update will be out this year even - which was why I rooted last weekend.

Not to disrupt all the speculation talk but can you point me to where I can obtain the beta version of flash for my Droid1?

I got it last week, what are you talking about not this year?

It'll be out this year...I have no doubts about that. The fact that FRG22 has been so widely leaked and discussed as the official build shows that the update is ready.

Froyo update on Motorola Droid with Verizon

Is it true verizon has stopped updating Mororola Droid phones with Froyo?

Is it true verizon has stopped updating Mororola Droid phones with Froyo?

Please search before asking a question like this. There are probably no less than five threads running right now regarding this.

True indeed... and if you can find a clearcut answer on any of them as to whether or not they *officially stopped the OTA, I'll buy you a beer! :)

Re: won't be out this year.
I have seen the update on a Moto Driod(at the Verizon store an employee received it on Aug. 6th) with my own eyes so I know it is out. My only concern was whether the updates were stalled half way through. After talking to the Verizon rep for some time I do believe he was giving me the most current info he had. It would be in Verizon's best interest to spread the word of a delay just to stop the overwhelming phone calls coming in right now from phone owners asking for the status of the updates.

Rooted?

I assume that rooted means cracked or loaded another way. Do you or can someone let me know particularly what rooted actually means and how and what the advantages are? you can post here or send to my e-mail @[email protected] thanx. Dave

search "what does root mean" on this forum

this is just frustrating at this point. i'm one of the few that has a problem with my text messaging where it will delete all my texts, even locked ones. i was hoping froyo would fix this, and i'm desperately trying not to go and fiddle with my phone too much since my parents are still wonderful enough to pay for my plan.

that, and curiosity strikes me... when they do release these updates, how do they send them out? is it a random pick of phones, or does it go according to when you purchased you phone/ activated the plan?

Rooted and on 2.2 here.
I do not understand people complaining about how hot it gets. My 2.1 Stock Droid got HOT AS HELL when running:
A) Navi
B) The Great Land Grab
C) Email/Text

It doesn't get any hotter now.

Also, my Exchange works 100% as well on 2.2 as it did on 2.1. I see ZERO difference and I am the IT Manager. I have NOT looked into remote wipe, though. No clue how that works.
