The Droid2 will release with froyo on it..........Directly from Motorola on Saturday. the update is being pulled for the D1..........I will try to find out more tomorrow

pulled as in permanent, or until they clean up whatever conflict there was? or is that the unknown part at this point?

I got another critical question to ask. If Froyo is not being pushed, how does then Droid 2 will be released, since must contain Android 2.2? I believe similarities in OS does exists.

If the update is actually pulled for the D1, what are my options on a currently unrooted Droid? I have (but not installed) FRG01b, an FRG22-DEODEXED version and the Easy Root app. Should I go with the FRG01b or root?

Pick either one of them. I'm running FRG22 and I'm thinking about going back to FRG01B. Not certain yet though.

So the craziness continues lol, this is worse than the 2.1 update :icon_evil:
I'm glad I missed it, then. :)

Seriously, though, this is actually a MUCH bigger update than the one to 2.1 was, so there's a significantly higher chance of there being errors. The forum post seemed to indicate that the new update is designed to update from 2.0, 2.0.1, AND 2.1, as well as working with both Clockwork Recovery and SPREcovery. An all-inclusive, all-in-one update so they only have to worry about one kicking around sounds good to me. It also makes me glad I'm rooted and only have to wait for CyanogenMod to get updated. The update cycle there seems to be a LOT faster. :D

It's to be expected, really. The technology of items implemented on this build are much farther ahead than previous. As it gets more technical, the interactions with different areas of the phone are going to be different and testing will take longer. It sucks, I know, but we don't have a choice. I would rather a well tested, or at least pretty well tested OTA release rather than an early release full of bugs.

Oh I agree 2.2 is a whole different animal, there's just so much info coming out everyday it's just crazy lol, and yes I'm running sapphire 1.0 atm, can't wait for CM6 though :icon_ banana:

The RC-2 is pretty awesome already, and they're hammering out all sorts of good stuff for all the other phones, so by the time they get around to RC-3 or the full release it's going to knock socks off people across the room. I'm so glad I got the link to download the update.zip right off Koush's website.

I just hope they get this OTA mess straightened out soon so the non-rooted people can finally get FroYo. It really is a game-changer.

I've been using it since day one without any problems at all.

Of course they didn't pull it permanently. Give me a break. They didn't say that and it's just stupid paranoid rumors.

Why not just download the zip and install it..

Yea I tried a nightly not to long ago it was pretty sweet, and yes my finance is 1 of these unrooted that's why I'm following the news well that and I like to stay informed.

So I'm now stock 2.2 by force running flash beta, only than flash being a bit laggy, and I'm sure thats my data connection not flash itself, my phone seems faster and more stable, i have only messed around for a few hours on it. but today and tomorrow will tell the full story for me.

Droid 2.2 OTA Update News

News straight from Verizon Wireless today, 8/9,2010
This might be old news(I just joined Droid Forum today and have not had time to read all the threads yet) but I know everyone is anxious for current news so I'm going to pass this on. I have been patiently waiting for my update that was supposed to start rolling out August 3rd according to the Verizon store. I was back at the Verizon store on August 6th and the guy that worked there already had his update. I am STILL waiting. I heard a rumor that the updates were stalled so I call Verizon today. The guy checked all his alerts and told me there is NO news of the updates being stalled and they are currently still rolling out. The last of them are scheduled to be finished by August 13th. He also told me he is still patiently waiting for his and that he checks the update status and alerts several times a day on Verizon's main computer. Let's hope for the best and I hope this helps anyone still wondering. If anyone else has any more current news please let me know. Thanks :)

Welcome to the forums and thanks for the update :) Alot are still waiting patiently for the OTA...

It's going to take awhile. There are a lot of updates to go out and they have to portion them out so they don't overload the servers. Just be patient. It'll happen.
