VZW was probably offering you the annual upgrade not the NE2. They look very similar online. BB can only do the NE2 if it is at least your upgrade date. VZW will not change your upgrade date so you can buy the phone cheaper elsewhere. Nice try

I called Verizon about 3 weeks before my upgrade date and they offered to move the date for me. I took it and got my Droid.

Current status of Bluetooth voice dialing on DROID

...Is there going to be a fix done about voice commands through Bluetooth devices? Well, i guess the appropriate question would be, have you heard anything about a fix for this? Having to actually handle your phone while driving negates part of the reason you use a bluetooth. I have a ddressed this twice in my Verizon store and both times the techs looked at me like they had no idea this was an issue. Hmmmmmmm, that is a little hard to believe. either or, have you heard anything about this being addressed by whomever? I know it's not a Verizon problem.

I've tried to gather as much info as possible on the current status of Bluetooth voice dialing and posted it here.

Hello there. Hopefully you can help, so far no luck at my local verizon store... A few things I need help with. First, My camera occasionaly shows like big rain drops on picture, even though camera is not or has not been wet I have changed fonts and nothing any suggestions. Also my phone is once aday erasing all of my text messages, cant seem to find a reason why, also I am getting the error message to force close android messaging, and then to get it to stop I have to either take out battery and or just wait sometimes it lasts for hours. Also I have been in conversation with a friend and someone else comes through all of a sudden it will say my conversation is with new person and yet headline is still saying prior conversation is going.. Have you heard of any of this, I had switched out phone once already unger thirty day policy and yet problems are still persisiting.. PLEASE HELP.. Thanks!

Thanks Viper boy! i'll try the to boot my phone. I'm having an issue with my camera Gallery. When I try to play a video i get the msg "sorry activity gallery in application camera is not responding" force close or wait buttons appear. Neither works.

my motorola droid.android whatever it is lol (bought it 2 days ago) will not receive calls, will not receive texts, or make a call.. nothing works on it, no internet either but it is on and i can play with the phone but nothing works its like the signal is cut off and i can not find out how to get it back on. what the hell has happened?

If that doesn't help. Call Verizon tech support on land line. It definitely sounds like you are not setup on their system.

Why can't the DROID talk and surf the internet at the same time, is it a system thing, or 3G capability, a phone design thing, or did Verizon not feel its important or a priority need, and do you see Verizon making the DROID capable of doing both soon since At&t is exploiting the restriction of talking and surfing. Since it can do both when using WiFi i'm guessing its not a phone thing, but maybe a system thing. THANKS

This is a limitation of the CDMA technology vs. GSM technology. On GSM, you get less connections per tower (which is why the network for iPhone users goes down when there are a lot of them in one place, like CES or other tech trade shows), but you do have the ability to surf and talk. On the CDMA side, you can't do the talk and surf, but you got more connections per tower, which equates to a more robust network.

I'm curious about how this works too.

My upgrade date is 01/29/10, I have a BB curve and my wife has just a regular non-smartphone.

I want the droid and she just wants the new envy (nonsmartphone)

Is it ppossible to get these new phones before the 29th? I'm going nuts waiting for my upgrade date.

The first is probably easy: How do I get a shortcut to my WiFi settings on my homepage, so I can easily turn on and off WiFi?

And, I have several friends who also have Droids and their Google Talk contact list auto populated with everybody in their address book with a gmail account. Mine did not. How can I get mine to do that? They all tell me Google Talk did this automatically.

As far as the Wifi, there is an app called Wifi On/Off by Curvefish. This will put a "switch" on your home screen. However, you can also long press the home screen, then press Widgets, then Power Control. This will give you a widget that will allow you to easily turn wifi, bluetooth, and sync on and off and adjust the brightness.

So I get double notifications both audible (which I just figured out how to fix) as well as in my speedbar on top. Is there any way to put the preinstalled Messaging out of my misery?

Turn off notifications in the default app.

Messaging > Menu Key > Settings > Uncheck Notifications near the bottom of the list.

That will turn off notifications for the default app, but they'll still work in Handcent.
