Verizon Will Start Charging a $30 Upgrade Fee Starting April 22nd

well i have yet to receive an email back from VZW left one when this thread started i did call to try and beat the upgrade cost ( due 6/8) declined :/ they told me it was because these phones are almost like computers they had to add stuff to the towers and it helps offset the cost of the 4g..

I thought them getting rid of Unlimited plans and charging more for tiered data plans was paying to offset the cost of 4G...

Well, by only allowing two-year contracts, along with this new $30 upgrade fee, I'm not going to upgrade through Verizon anymore. I'm not leaving their service, but I will do what I can to deter they don't receive these ridiculous fees from me.

its a fee to renew contract if you buy from third party like amazon or best buy they will still charge you . only way out full retail/craigslist/ebay.. call and cry ( this is going to be my approach)

Is 30$ really going to break your bank? Stop your crying.

Nope, it certainly won't break my bank. Chances are that MANY of us are well into the six figure income and still actually care about this because it is an unnecessary fee that was probably established long ago by some of the other providers simply because it was another source of revenue. Text messaging rates are a remnant of that as well. They STILL charge for those things when it costs nearly nothing in data costs to do so. They hide behind bogus reasons and stick it to the consumer at every turn...and turn multi-billion dollar profits. It has little to do about the actual COST and ALL to do with the message that is sends to the consumer.

Why don't you start sending me $30.00 every two years for no reason, too. I'll take it and so will Verizon if you are willing to give it away.

Well if u got 5 lines yea it will put a pretty big dent in ur piggy bank.. stop being a smart ass!

His parents probably pay for the line - so maybe it shouldn't matter to the rest of us either ;-) Or he doesn't like money Or he doesn't know what to do with it all.

I wouldn't call him/anyone a "moron" - I don't know him. I just think some people don't see the value in standing up for what is right or they dont see the need to stand up for some things unless it is an inconvenience to them...forget everyone else.

Yeah, they ended up backing down on the paper-less billing fee or something like that - basically $2.00, i think? For some reason that meant more to people than this $30.00!

Why do people like you have to talk? If you are happy to pay extra for no reason, great! But some of us don't enjoy getting ripped off.
