[VIDEO] 10min Root complete Guide

I must be one of the lucky few..not

Glad it worked for you... it has worked for a few that were having the same trouble..... I'm not sure it's a card issue as some have reported... but more of a card seating issue imo.

Either way i'm happy it worked for you and others too... :)

As for removing cityid.... the only time you can write or delete to /system is right after you root.... there is what's called NAND protection on /system / recovery and a few other areas that has not been broken yet...

So to remove cityid... repeat the root process and after you push su, busybox and the others.... remove cityid also.

:beer
Tried this 12 times and nothing, it goes to the unknown android 1. driver in devices and this I can't change as it says they are not 64 bit drivers...same damn thing each time this really sucks eggs :P

But one at a time it seems you are getting others to work so maybe sooner or later your wand will pass over my phone...grin.

Weird.
It rooted last night so effortlessly (after the first 10 hours:laugh:) but now I can't get an adb shell to save my life. Must have been one of those timing anomolys.

Well I look at it this way

Well I look at it this way, if we have our whole life to do nothing but reboot, install non-working drivers and hope our timing is right when we hit button after button while spinning counterclockwise to the moon and hopping an oak branch..then this root method is great!!! However I am just going to wait until someone finally figures out a patch that will actually work withhout jumping through 80 hoops and praying to the gods of connections that it goes through... grin

thats normal, you wont have android connecting as anything else until it connects to your phone in recovery mode. when i rooted on winxp computer it couldnt find driver until i got into recovery
Okay I think I get it. When I do go in to recovery The only driver that loads is the one that recognizes the inc as two drives (internal and external storage) Is it just a matter of continuing to try until the device gets recognized with the adb device driver?

correct, just like my video were it gave me an error installing the driver. It wont successfully install itself until you get into adb recovery.
Great. Thanks you. This is like trying to herd cats! :)

Hey I hear ya man.
If you're willing to try a few things, I was just able to get it again. Maybe you should give it a quick (or not) try. Here are the steps. Like I said earlier, I'm no genius but this is what I went through...

navigate to C>Windows>System32>Drivers
Look for a file called usbstor.sys
You need to delete this file. If you need helping with permissions, let me know. I don't know how much you know about windows.
After deleting this file turn the phone off and boot into recovery.
Connect and 'click out' the SD card.
In CMD prompt run the loop file.
Click the power button and wait 10 seconds.
Volume down then power button....
Just after the white HTC screen you will hear your computer beep for an un-detect presumably for the SD click the SD back in as soon as you hear that sound. My Win7 realized the old drivers were no longer there and decided to use the ones we need.

Let me know how that goes. Oh and worse case, if you're concerned with deleting system files, Windows will re-find it after we're done.

Glad to hear it's working for you guys.
I've only removed a few programs using a tutorial from incredibleforum.com

Well, it worked once. I got into ADB shell in recovery, and was trying to push the update.zip files and the phone just randomly rebooted so I got kicked out of adb and can't get it to work again. Oh well. F*******************************************************************************************k

I'm assuming you tried the whole process over again?
Of course this happens RIGHT after I post a new thread about it:(

I tried it about 20 times and it just wouldn't do it again. I noticed that the usbstor.sys file regenerates pretty quickly, too. I'll try it again on another computer and see if I can reproduce it later.

Hmmm are you sure you didn't connect out of order?
I just checked and that file is still missing for me.
Maybe I'll try the whole process again after I restore the file.

At what point do you reconnect to the phone? It seems to restore the file almost immediately upon reconnecting the phone, or if the phone is connected when you delete the file it is immediately restored.

I tried reconnecting to the phone at several different places in the process. I tried leaving it plugged in the whole time, plugging it in before booting into recovery, plugging it in immediately after clicking on recovery, etc. I also tried clicking and unclicking the card in several different points in time. I just couldn't reproduce it.
