Virtual Steve Jobs Gets Kicked in the Face in New Optimus Pad Promo Video

Again...are you supposing that the mac v pc commercials weren't employing the same strategy? Or blocking an android app in the app store wasn't trying to draw attention? Yet, why were those things so outrageous and cult-like?

Yes, and the mac vs. PC commercials are effective, and funny. And the humor in this case isn't even a central part of the ad. More like a - what's the term? - easter egg?

Not to mention, it's apples to oranges as this isn't Google making an Android ad attacking IOS. Then if you want to talk fear/insecurity, blocking an app that would make it more convenient to access content on the competition is, again, a better example.

I'm not getting into this again. They didn't block content, they blocked a link on their app store to the content. You couldn't differentiate the two way back then, I don't expect you to do it now either.

I don't go to Best Buy expecting to see a Radioshack flyer, and when I leave Best Buy I don't think "Geez what a cult, they're not showing me the deals at Radioshack". However, Best Buy can't prevent me from reading a Radioshack flyer in their store. The difference is obvious...to some.

this has gotten lost in all the conversation. LG made the commercial, not Google. :icon_eek:

They didn't block an app, they prohibited any app to use/mention the word "Android" in the name, description etc. Just seems extreme. But if you draw a parallel between that and the Steve Jobs kick, then I see where you're coming from.

... but as you mentioned, just as you don't have to agree with me, I also do not have to agree with you.

I'm not gonna disagree with you that Android has it's 'sheep' moments, because it does.

Ok, I thought it was just that android newsapp that they blocked or something. Maybe I had it wrong. Completely disallowing the word android in any app is a little extreme, if that's what they did. And that's not comparable to the Steve Jobs kick obviously.

I guess what I'm saying is being fair goes a long way. It just seems hypocritical and childish to say Apple is a cult or childish for doing a mac vs pc commercial (not saying that what you said) but then saying this commercial was hilarious.

Apple Bans the Word 'Android' From App Store - PCWorld

It was an Android Magazine App that was banned and garnered most of the attention so you're not off base their.
I have never attempted to verify if the word "Android" exists any where in the App Store so I can only go with what I've read.

.... the short of it, I can see your frustration with the double standard that arises... both sides have their moments. While I don't believe Android users are at the same level of iPhone users, the disparity in some opinions does exist.

I did not know this, and yes that is ridiculous :icon_eek:, completely agree with you there. It's one thing to not allow an android app, but to disallow the word itself from appearing anywhere in the app store is extreme

If this was an iPad2 ad and it had steve jobs kicking andy the android in the head, the backlash here would be widespread.

I would cry a million tears that form jellybeans that taste of sadness if he kicked the mascot of the phone operating system that spends most of the time dousing my brain or privates with radiation.

LOL, really a distinction without a difference. You stlll can't understand that, just like you got all hot and bothered again over this ad eventhough it isn't Google attacking IOS. You always come guns ablazing any time anyone on this board shows anything less than extreme admiration and awe for everything Apple.

To be fair, I didn't forget this. My first post in this thread said "Android manufacturers"...however, it does reflect badly on Google, in my opinion.

haha I hear Jelly Belly is working on that jelly bean now. Jelly Belly Sadness, it would sell like crazy.

Oh yeah. What's LG's mascot? A candy bar?

wasn't pointing it toward you, was more of a general statement for the benefit of the thread.

It's just a commercial, doesn't reflect on Google. Not in my eyes at least, no more so that Apple stating a PC is a geeky old man out of touch with the times :). It didn't change my opinion of Apple, actually, it was brilliant advertising.

Jobs is king of the hill right now, just look at it as (LG) Android trying to 'knock' him off. :)

You're reading comprehension is still not up to par. My post says "android manufacturers", not Google. I didn't even mention Google, and I mentioned LG by name even after that. So...yeah, try again.

Secondly, since you seem to have me figured out why do you continue to respond to me? If I'm a troll, you're being baited, right? And if I'm just an Apple fanboy, you're just a glutton for punishment?

I just want to go back to one of my previous points......this is what I envisioned when I pictured Jobs kicking Andy. Yes my paint skills are better than yours. I am pretty much the best there is.
