i just signed a new contract w/ verizon last month, is it possible for me to get added to a family plan? if yes, is there a fee? and would the employee discount on my line carry over if i am able to merge onto the family plan?

thanx

Where is the family plan you are looking to go to? Do you have a family plan on your current account. Do you have a friend with a family plan? Are you looking to add a line and convert to a family line? I need more info kind sir!

the family plan is my father-in-law's, I'm currently on a single line. the primary line has a discount, since it's from the same employer, but if I am able to transfer over I was hoping that my discount would also apply to my line as a secondary line...I believe I read earlier in this thread that the line needs to be more than $34.99(?) but I wanted to double check.

and, um, it's ma'am...or miss...idk when does one achieve ma'am status? :icon_eek:;)

thnx again

So if your uncle's Family Share plan is on another another account you are able to transfer it to his line called an AOL (assumption of liability). As far as the discount goes you wont receive it on your secondary line. The pricing doesn't affect secondary line receiving a discount. I shouldn't say all but most, 99% of discounts don't discount secondary lines. Sorry ma'am my fault. :)

No problem. I have a ton of PMs to check ESNs too lol. I checked one for someone a long time ago and I still get PMs. I don't mind doing it one bit. I actually like to help out. Sometimes as a consumer there feels like such a disconnect. I want to help anyway I can.

If I, genuinely, lost my phone but found it 2 months later. Am I able to call verizon and have them remove the locked status on the lost but found phone???

It was replaced w/ Asurion. . . what doe staht mean? Could I call Vrz in anothercoupl of weeks or months and have the esn cleared? Is there a way around the locked esn (leagally, of course)?

goverment discount and online discount on same acc purchase [plantronic voyager pro]

If I am purchasing an accessory should I get the online discount and the goverment discount?

Only if your discount specifically specifies that it is off accessories/equipment. Also, if its an indirect store no they do not have to offer you the discount on their accessories.

We have 2 phones on an old Alltel plan... it's a 500 minute plan for $39.99 a month, plus $20 for the second phone for a total of $59.99 for both phones. We rarely go over 300 minutes a month, so I've seen no reason to change to a $69.99 family plan with 700 minutes for the extra $10.

If we upgrade both phones to droids, I know we have to add $29.99 per phone for the data plan, but do we have to upgrade to a family plan as well? If we ARE able to keep our current plan, how would I go about upgrading our phones on a 3rd party website like Amazon or LetsTalk - it only lets you pick one phone for individual account, and it's also not a family account.

Also, both phones are eligible for upgrade on 3/24, which is only one week from now. I saw numerous times, in this thread and in other places, where people have had their upgrade dates bumped up a little bit - but when we called customer service, we were promptly and rudely told that they were unable to do anything... so how do you go about it; just call back over and over until I get someone who will do it?

I would request to be changed to the Nationwide 65+ double line plan for $59.99 a month. That gives you 450 anytime minuets and 1000 nights/weekends minuets with free Verizon to Verizon calls. This does not include any kind of texting, so you have the $10/500 and the $20/5000 text packages per line to chose from, if you want texting. Data is the same way, $30/unlimited data per line. Thats really about as close to your Alltel plan as you're going to get.

Unfortunately, you have to be on a Verizon plan to upgrade to a Verizon phone. Its part of the Altel conversion, after a period of time those plans will no longer exist at all, as everyone will have switched over.

If you'd like to try to save some money, try to get one phone through one discont company and one through another. Otherwise, Verizon also has a BOGO on the Droid right now, so they're basically 100/each right now is also a pretty good deal.

Hope that helps, the whole Alltel sitiuation is kinda sticky :(

HI I recently upgraded to a Moto Droid from and old HTC touch pro. I got to keep my old alltel plan. In fact I still have all 12 friends and family numbers ( I had bonus numbers due to longevity of contract) this is my plan

FAM FRIENDS & FAMILY10 SMARTPACK 1200

my question is about tethering. When I got my HTC touch pro one of the features they sold me on was "No cost tethering with truly unlimited data use" They told me data was data and that I could turn my net off at home if I wanted and use my phone exclusively for internet. I of course never did this and tether rarely.. but on the odd occasion I want or need too (camping, parents house, ect) do I have to have a tethering plan. My original contract did not require it, and I didn't get a new contract, I renewed my old one. Any clarification would be nice.

Question #2

My alltel plan allowed for free international texting. That seems to still work. Prior to the phone change and carrier switch I could also send and receive text while I was in Canada and Mexico for free as a part of my plan. Is that going to change. This feature still worked as of mid January.

Thanks in advance. PS I love my Alltel plan and will keep it till they pry it away from me.

Tethering -- email response from VZW

My 2-year renewal comes up on 5/17/2010 so I was considering upgrading my Palm Centro ( in 700 minute family voice only plan now) to a Moto Droid. But it would have to replace the USB 727 air card I now pay $60/month for -- that is used heavily for telecommuting and averages 4GB per month. I was willing to get 2 data plans on the Droid as long as it didn't exceed the $60/month I now pay on the air card.

I emailed VZW and here is the response:
"our Droid devices do not support the Mobile Broadband Connect feature at this time. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. However, our other Blackberry/Smartphone devices do support this feature.

The Mobile Broadband Connect feature provides Internet access utilizing your handset as a modem by tethering it to your laptop via a USB cable and VZAccess Manager Software, which is available for download at the following website: VZAccess Manager

Mobile Broadband Connect offers 5GB of data usage for Internet browsing, e-mail and intranet access, downloading, uploading or streaming of audio/video and VoIP. If you exceed the 5GB allowance, you will be billed 5 cents per each additional megabyte (MB) used. Airtime does not apply when using Mobile Broadband Connect.

There are three pricing options available for the Mobile Broadband Connect feature, which can be added or removed from your voice calling plan at any time:

1. $15.00 per month: This option is available if you are subscribing to a $44.99 E-mail and Web for Smartphone add-on feature or the $44.99 E-mail and Web for BlackBerry add-on feature.
2. $30.00 per month: This option is available if you have the $29.99 E-mail and Web for Smartphone add-on feature or the $29.99 E-mail and Web for BlackBerry add-on feature.
3. $59.99 per month: This option can be added to any other qualifying calling plan."

I have the opportunity to upgrade at the 1 year price, my mother in law needs a phone. Its through the business or customer relations department. Can I buy the phone but give it to her?
