Discount Question

I have an employer discount on my account. I had been receiving a discount on my access plan as well as on the data plan for my line which is not the primary line. I've had this discount for years and even had an air card for a while and also got the access discount on that too.

In November I upgraded to the Droid and I noticed in my Jan. statement that I was no longer get the discount on my data plan that I had been getting previously on the same line when I had a BB active on that line. I emailed VZW and they replied that the discount is only available on primary lines.

I haven't had a chance to follow up yet but what's the deal with that? Anyone have similar situation?

That's the rub...the only thing that changed on my account was the addition of the Droid...I have a family plan w/3 lines.
 
I have the opportunity to upgrade at the 1 year price, my mother in law needs a phone. Its through the business or customer relations department. Can I buy the phone but give it to her?

Yes, you can do that. You would just need to do whats called an ESN swap. Basically you would get the phone through your line and put it on your mother in law's line. You can do this two ways...

1) Call customer care from your phone and have them put the old phone on your account again, then have MIL call customer care and have them put the new phone on her account (she'll need the MEID number from the back of the phone behind the battery).

2) When you get the new phone DON'T activate it on your line, but call *228 option 1 and it will ask for the mobile number that you want to activate it on, put in your MIL's number.... it will then ask you for either the last 4 of her social or the account password, enter that in then you'll hear some really terrible music for about 45 seconds and everything will be good to go!

Yes, that does not surprise me. Like I said in an earlier post, if the plan is a secondary, it CAN get a discount, BUT it hasto be over 34.99. Since 99 out of 100 secondarys are under 35 bucks.....
But, in some cases, for whatever reason, some secondary lines got the discount by accident. Verizon fixes this as they come across it. Look on the bottom of your bill if your worried about loosing a discount that u have. In one of the many disclaimers there will be one saying that vzw is giving you notice of their error, and that they are fixing it. If u have a problem, u need to call them BEFORE it comes off your acct.

I am looking at a $700+ phone bill this month because of two Verizon reps. The first did not sign us up for the 250 text messages on each line like we asked for. The second we looked at MyVerizon app and it told us we were going over our minutes. We went into the Verizon store to upgrade our plan to avoid this. She told us that we were not going over our minutes and did not need to upgrade. I thought that was cool at the time. Save me some bucks or so I thought. Now I am getting charged for every text message and data charges for picture messages. And we have indeed gone over our minutes as the MyVerizon app was accurate. Not sure what the rep was looking at.

Anyway my question is do I have any recourse or am I just screwed? I know I signed a contract but the store associates are telling me one thing and my bill is telling me another. If it is a case of well you have to read the fine print, then why even have Verizon stores and associates if what they say means nothing?

Yes please call in or go into the store. If I had your account in front of me I would resolve the issue. What they can do is called re rate your account. When its in our error we will credit all of the overage and charge what you should have paid. Call in and they will resolve the issue if you prefer not going to a store. I am sorry you got bad information and I know its annoying. We will fix your issue.

Well they cut our phones off today. After calling as you suggested and making a $200 payment (we already paid $300 on the 2nd) they turned them back on "as a one time courtesy." I had previously went in and talked to a third Verizon rep named Mike who was some kind of manager. He seemed very helpful. He took my contract and my bills and said he would try to get it comped for me. He also upgraded our plan to avoid future overages. He gave me his cell number and said to check back in a week. Then the guy disappears. I check back every day for weeks and they always say he is not working today. I call several times and leave voice mails and he doesn't return my calls. I go by the mall kiosk today and the girl tells me "Mike no longer works here." So when I was talking to the customer service lady on the phone today she tells me there is nothing she can do and that I need to go to the physical store and talk to a manager. The physical store tells me a manager won't be in until Thursday. Why do I get the feeling when I go in on Thursday the manager will not be able to help me either? XJMan, if you truly have the capability I will send you a PM with any account information you need to get this taken care of. I have called Verizon several times and I have been hounded by their bill collectors and I have tried several associates and at least one manager at both physical stores. And so far you are the only one who doesn't make me feel like I've done something wrong and must pay. Anyway, if you really can help let me know and I will shoot you that info. If not I guess I will try my chances on Thursday. But I've got a pretty good idea where that is going to go.

I want to upgrade to the Droid on all 3 lines once I find a good deal. Would there be an ETF or penalty if i upgraded sooner through BB, Amazon, Wally World, Wirefly, or Verizon?

I want to upgrade to the Droid on all 3 lines once I find a good deal. Would there be an ETF or penalty if i upgraded sooner through BB, Amazon, Wally World, Wirefly, or Verizon?
Will all 3 lines be eligible for upgrade on 8/11 ? Totally possible, just want to make sure.

There wouldn't be any ETF per-say, you just wouldn't be able to upgrade at a discounted price. The primary line might be eligible now if you check online. The other two will just have to wait it out.
 
Question regarding phone upgrades. The closer to trade phone will be 4 months away from two year NE2 period when the Incredible is supposed to come out. I'm 99% sure I remember pulling a discount for about every phone I've had before the actual NE2 date. Should 4 months out be workable as far as pulling a discount for upgrade?

BTW, I've been with Verizon for many, many years and could have sworn I saw something at some point regarding our account be changed to Gold status or something? Are there different tiers?

This means single lines on 450 Talk and Text or 900 minutes or higher. Secondary lines on any plan other than Unlimited Talk do not qualify.

There was never a "Gold" tier but there used to be a VIP program that ended last February.

That's it, the VIP program. Looks like I should be good, between the 20 months and also have one unlimited line with data and another unlimited line. Sounds like even if it takes a little fiddling, should be possible. What en end to the month. Jimmy Buffett on the 27th and the Incredible on the 29th. :D
 
Dang it, actually looked and I'll be at month 19 out of 24 when it hits. May take a little convincing. Hopefully can make this work.
 
Strange billing issue

Hello,

The last two months, my phone bill has been roughly $10 cheaper than it was prior, and I've refrained from calling as if its a mistake, I'd rather let it run its course. <.<

I've had the $39.99 450 plan since when the Droid launched, as well as the $29.99 data plan and the $20 unlimited text package. For every month between then and Feb, it was right around $94.90 or so. For the last two months though, its been $84.88. I've checked online to make sure none of the prices had dropped, as this happened shortly after their conversion of the unlimited talk plan to $69.99. When I activated my line, I was in a not so great standing credit wise, and I was required to pay a $125 security deposit, however, I was told that it would be refunded to me via check after paying my bill on time for 12 months. Have they perhaps changed their policy on this and are instead planning on deducting ~$10 from my bill for 12 months, or is this just a simple billing error?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
