I have 3 lines and 1 upgrade avaliable. Can I use it for a droid x and activate it and then switch that line back to a dumb phone so I dont pay the 29 monthly plan and use the X on my main line?

You can use the upgrade and switch the phone onto your line but youll still have to pay for the data plan on the line with the x..

Nice. I got a Moto Droid about 2 months ago so I already pay for data, I just didnt want to pay for it on a 3rd line I dont use very often. Thanks for the quick reply.....made my day! :)

My account is due for the new every two upgrade soon and I am looking to combine what were two separate plans (one individual unlimited and one family) into one family plan. Both the individual plan phone and the main phone on the family plan are eligible for the new every two discount (is that in addition to the two year contract discount?). When I combine the phones onto the same plan, will the individual plan phone lose it's discount? Also, the site mentions my discount would be $50 or $100 depending on the phone and plan...If we are moving from BlackBerrys and Palms to Droids, would that qualify for the $100 ($200 for both phones) off?

Also, the unlimited plan phone has been using ActiveSync and Windows Mobile to sync with work emails. Can we do that on the Droid with the $30 data plan or do we need the $45 data plan?

Thank you so much for your help! :)

If you switch the individual line to the family plan you will lose your ne2 credit. If you upgrade first then switch them later you could use the discount. It sounds like you have 2 $100 credits, do the upgrades then go home and call the assumption of liability dept at 1-888-832-4540 to make the switch.

Note: If all the lines are not in your name the account holder of the line you want to move has to first contact Verizon and release the line to the person who is taking it then you have 30 days to call and get it switched.

Hope that helps.

No problem. You do not sign a contract for the data plan and can always switch to a normal phone that doesnt require data and cancell the data plan. But the Droids require it so no matter which line you switch it to it will require the $29.99 data plan.

Alright, new X owner with a few questions in regards to the whole data plan thing.

I tried purchasing online, went through the whole process but stopped when it was forcing me to pick a "data plan" ...which consisted of the unlimited, the cap, or the 3G Mobile Hotspot. Do you have to pick a plan? What if I only wanted the phone for WiFi access (home, restraunts, college) that I know have dedicated Wifi. Why pay for a unlimited service when it's not something I really need since I can adjust to my daily needs just fine using the mentioned Wifi spots?

I'm wondering if I go into an actual Verizon store if their gonna try some kind of sales pitch saying I have no choice but to go with a data plan. That would bring the bill to 59.99 (mins/unlimited txt) + 29.99 (data) + 1.99 insurance / month making it about $90+ a month service.

Is there a better option? Hoping I'm missing something here because I done my homework all over the forums, Droidlife, DroidXforums, here but still left confused. Appreciate any help.

How soon after I upgrade can I combine the two plans into the family plan? Should I wait until we get the phones? I was planning on upgrading online and try to avoid the hassle of going to my Verizon store which is in the mall and always super busy. Last time we ordered our phones online, we got them within two days. I don't want it to look funny... like I ordered new phones on Monday, got them on Wednesday, activated them and then changed plans on Thursday. I also don't want to give up the $100 ne2 discount off of the upgrade, either.

Does upgrading lock me into the plans I currently have for another two years or can I change them without a penalty?

I am the name on the account and all of the phones.

Also, is it possible to ActiveSync with the personal email or do you need the corporate account?

Thanks for you help! :)

Upgrading doesnt lock you in but you want to upgrade first then (same day if you want) combine the plans. If you order online then yes I would wait til you get the phones. Once you have the phones just call the number I provided and tell them to combine them into 1.

I believe you can use exchange with normal email not sure as I dont use it. Maybe someone else could answer that for you.

That is not a sales pitch sir, all 3g smartphones and 3g multimedia phones on Verizon require a data plan. The one for the droid is unlimited for $29.99. There is no way to have the X active on Verizons network without the data.

I hope this hasn't ben posted before but I can't read through 450+ posts to find it haha!!

My sister is on Alltel in Texas and I was wondering if txts to her and calls to her are counted or if they are in network now??

Chris

Quick question. I've read conflicting answers. I have 4 lines. My main line isn't eligible for upgrade but one of my others is. Can I order an upgrade online for that line, then activate it with my main line number? Then just keep the same phone that was on that other line?

The data plan is required, there is no way around it if you pick a phone from the 3g multimedia or 3g smartphone lot.

We cant do anything to change it.
