The restocking fee is usally never waived just because you want a new phone be it more $ or less $. For the most part you have to pay it but they some times do waive it.

At my store we don't waive. Reason we don't ia because of warranty. If a phone is activated again the warranty is not reassinged to the new owner. My store still covers it but that means we have to sell the phone as an open box item. Which usally means you get the phone for $50, $75, or $100 less but also means its trickier to get verizon to honor the warranty if you have problems after the first 30 days.

I believe at corp stores returned phones become CLNR phones but chances are they wont waive the restocking fee because of that.

As for getting a TX number it shouldn't be a problem, but they usally charge you $15 on your bill to due it.

well, i guess i'll have to eat the cost of the restocking fee if i decide to return it then. thank you for clearing that up, it was very helpful! :)

I quick question, sorry if its been answered before.

I am on a family plan with my wife. I have the droid and she has the intensity (dumbphone) no data plan. We renewed a 2yr contract in feb.

If she wants to get a Droid, is there some way we could get a deal or would we have to pay full price?

Does my CLNR have the same 1 year warranty that the original Moto Droid had ? Or do I need to keep sending it back every so often for another CLNR. I have not had any luck with CLNR phones. Hell the latest one which is my 4th Droid is a POS.

Not alot of stores will do this, but if you wanted say the droid, you can get it as a CPO unite for 289.99. Much cheaper than retail, no contract extension, full year warranty, and you can add insurance to it. Since you don't currently have data, i dont think they will give you any grief. Its a good business move.

CLNR's do not restart the manufacturers warranty. Once exchanged you will either have 90 days or the remainder of the year warranty. I would suggest if you are having that much trouble with the CLNR units, I would contact the manufacturer. However, the CLNR units you get are typically reconditioned, NOT refurbished like you may get with the OEM. But there is a 50/50 chance with the Manufacturer that they may send you a new device.

But most of the CLNR units that verizon is sending for the motorola droid are new due to the lack of stock of reconditioned units. So i don't fully know if all 4 of your units are truly CLNR.

My wife has a Nokia twist...She has literally been through 5-6 phone since she bought it in February. This phones SUCK!!! They turn off all of a sudden you can't type on it keys stick and the reception is horrible. Can she be switched to a different phone? We are not asking for a BB or droid I just need for her to have something reliable that she can talk and text on even a camera is not that big of a deal.

You can try to talk to a store manager and see if they will exchange you into something like the Env3. Its pretty equivalent, but if you are not currently paying for a 3g multimedia feature, you will be if you take that option. They currently are replacing those devices with the phone and the battery. This way you dont have to do anything special to get them to exchange anything else other than the phone. Or you could talk them into letting you purchase a CPO.

Is there any way to get out of the $35 restocking fee if I'm having problems with my phone and just want to upgrade to the Droid X? I just purchased the Droid on July 27th.

Also, do you know if the Droid 2 will be the same price as the Droid 1?

Edit: Forget it, the restocking fee question was answered, lol.

Not really a way to get out of the restocking fee. If there is something wrong with your phone, if you get another one, there is no fee. Going to different model, fee.

Droid 2 will be the original price of the droid. Same as the x, slight possibility less.

Does anyone know if stores will be getting X stock in this coming week? Around 8/14, now that my wife decided she wants a Droid X now too i have to look for 2 of em. I'm curious if i should even bother looking or just order online and wait for shipping.

I'm waiting till next weekend to use my NE2 discount which goes in effect on the 12th.

Awesome, so I should be good on price then. I read in both the return policy and from various people online that if I return the phone as defective and opt to instead go back to my old phone for a period of 4 days, I will then be eligible for a new every 2 upgrade again. This means that I avoid the restocking fee and I can then order the Droid 2. Any actual weight to this?

I can't get my email to load on my DX properly. I want my Cox.net email to load but it won't accept them. I changed the inbound and outbound server settings and the ports to but it won't take it. Any ideas?
