I couldnt find a place to start a new thread, however i have a motorola droidx and i won this in a giveaway, that kcra had hosted on facebook, the phone i received had been used, instead of a new phone like the giveaway had stated, however i can't access the voicemail, because the previous user had set a password. What should i do.

Go to a VZW store...they can reset the VM password for you with a temporary one so you can set your own up.

Activate the phone on your account. The voicemail password has nothing to do with the phone.

I got two droids in June not knowing that this phone was not up to par to the droid x or the incredible. I payed the same amount for this phone that the droid x is selling for and I think I pretty much lost my money. I want to get a newer phone like the x or incredible since i did pay the same price they sell for and i was wondering how i can do that. The droid will not run Android 3.0 and it wont compete with the newer phones so for the next two years I'm stuck on a phone that doesn't compete and will not be supported anymore. The sales rep told me this phone could compete but the truth is it won't now that I actually compared them.

Truth is, it actually will. And what's more, it's likely to be running gingerbread first. This is because the bootloader isn't locked on the Droid1. Developers will have Gingerbread AOSP roms available for D1 in NO time after first released. I made the jump to the X a couple weeks ago, and am beginning to regret my choice. It's just too limited with the bootloader locked, even with root and workarounds.

I was kinda hopin someone knew a trick to get a mailer sent my way. But I added it up and I would only save a few bucks. No sense in getting trapped into another contract extension for a couple bucks, and no new phones. The $20 per line adds up with 4 lines.

Before I go to the VZW store, I would love some answers from the experts here.

I have 4 lines and 3 are ready for upgrades. My wife and 16yo want Droid 2's and my 12yo daughter wants an Ally.

The Droid 2's are BOGO and the Droid X is buy one get an Ally free. Would I be able to get the Droid X deal and use the X myself, even though I'm only a year in? If so, do I need to extend my contract 2 years? Thanks!

Well, to take advantage of a bogo/boga you need to be eligible for upgrade or adding a new line.
If your primary line is 12 months in, it might be eligible to upgrade early with a $20 fee.

Thanks for the help!

On another note, my wifes phone number is listed as the primary. Can we switch my number to the primary? She hasn't had a new phone in almost 3 years, while I'm a phonoholic. It would be nice to upgrade yearly. Normally I buy phones on ebay or something.

You can switch primary lines. I switched from mine to my wifes in order to get her companies corporate discount. Later, I added a line and handed my D1 down to a family member. I had my # assigned to my new DX. When my New every 2 is up on my line, it will be for my DX, not my D1 because it is assigned to the line, not the device.

I had a question about plan renewal.

I was with AllTel before the merger and our plan is two lines on the Friends and Family10 with 500 minutes shared, as well as the Smartpack (which is unlimited texts/pics/video/data I think). Our NE2 was around August and we've yet to upgrade. My question is, when we renew, will we keep our current plan, or will we have to change it to something that might be more expensive?

For now, legacy Alltel customers can keep their current plans even with Verizon phones. This wasn't the case when the merger first took place but has been in effect for a year or so now. Also, speak with a representative about a work discount (ECPD) on a Verizon plan and see if you can switch AND save money.

So, I can make my number the primary or will I lose our 25% discount from her work? How would VZW know who uses what phone with what number?

You can change primary line around, but won't be able to get the early upgrade then for 3 months. Sorry.
Your discount will stay because the account is still in her name.

I bought an HTC Touch Pro2 at the 2-year contract price in January 2010. I didn't like it so I bought a Droid 2 Global at full retail price this week and deactivated the HTC TP2.

Can I sell my HTC Touch Pro2? Or is it still locked to my account

Thanks
