Hey all, I have one quick question, If I (being a 16 year old minor, aka a secondary line) took my fathers upgrade annual (the primary line) in february, does that mean i can still use my 2 year upgrade? because my father loves his voyager and wants nothing less than that phone. lol. so could i upgrade my phone now also?

Ok, thank you. One other question.

My droids touchscreen has recently become unresponsive in certain parts, I have some visible damage to the phone, but non on the screen itself. So i was wondering if you think i would have to pay for a replacement? or would the warranty cover it?

and another question, could you point me into the direction of what verizon is puching OTA for the motorola droid? because i need to return it to a unrooted "normal looking" version, so they wont know about the rooting. So, what sbf file could i use?

I'm a little confused about the combination of "New Every 2" and non-Verizon Store retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon. Is it possible to do our NE2 upgrade at Best Buy (for example) and still get their cheaper price and retain our current service as is? (I don't mean the $1 price, as I know that's for a brand new contract.)

If this message doesn't make any sense, I can try to clarify. :) Thanks!

As I understand it, only verizon can offer upgrades or add a line deals.

I don't think most national retailers are able to redeem ne2 discounts. What most of them do (best buy for example) just takes the rebate off as instant on some of the more popular phones.

Example: Droid 2 Global, Droid Pro and Droid X are all the same price as they are at a Verizon store or the website, they just don't have the mail in rebates.

Okay, let's look at a specific example. Wirefly is offering free Incredibles for new and existing customers when you sign up for a two-year contract. Good for add a line and family plans as well. The question is, will I be able to keep the exact same plan I have now and get two free phones, rather than keeping the same plan I have now, and paying almost $300 for the phones from Verizon?

Addendum: say I go to Verizon tomorrow and get a Droid 2 and an Incredible as my free phone. Could I exchange the Droid 2 for another Incredible within the 30 day time frame without incurring any kind of extra cost?

Unfortunately I can't tell you how wirefly works, read their agreementand see if it lets you keep your current plan.

But if you get a droid 2 as the buy device in a bogo and exchange it, you would have to pay for the get device at that point that was initially free.

Depends on the retailer. Premium retailers usally honor NE2s because they will get paid by verizon, thats also the reason they do annaul upgrades too.

Now resellers like bestbuy, walmart, lets talk, amazon ect dont usally offer them becasue they try to have better prices than ne2s. The way they do this is by buying in bulk usally from the manufacutre. Where I order 50 droid x for the month of Nov, they order 50,000.

They dont do annaul upgrades because A either verizon doesnt let them or B, its just not profitable for them.

Plus most bank on the other goods they sell, sit at walmart and see how many people walk up and buy a phone but only a phone.

One thing to keep in mind, and I see this all the time. People go buy a phone at best buy and they dont do a rebate but pay the same price that verizon has it. Ok yea you didnt have to do the rebate, but youd be suprised how many people actually forget they have an NE2 of 30, 50, or 100.

I see it happen all the time when people go buy at best buy just beacuse they dont have a rebate but they give up their credit just beacuse its less at the time of pruchase. Also keep in mind, and this is more of a moral thing. When you buy from online, best buy, amazon, letstalk, walmart etc, and you go to a verizon store (corp or especialy private franchise) to get it activated and have your numbers transfered, there will be a charge most the time. Now it might not sound fair, but it really isnt fair for those employees that get paid to sell phone, have to activate and transfer numbers when Verizon provies those tools for free. I mean you never know, just cus you found a "better price", it doesnt hurt to stop in by a store, localy owned would be preffered, and see what they can offer you. It helps both parties out and those employees should be more inclined to help you out.

Everything above, times 2.

I had a couple come in, told me that they had just bought their phones at Sam's but because they had data blocks inplace, they couldn't do backup assistant. They wanted to get their contacts transferred and I had to charge them to do it because it's company policy.

I especially dislike the people who buy phones from best buy or online, because its "cheaper" and then come into my store expecting me to show them how to use it. My former manager would tell them to go back where they bought it for support. Now while I strongly disagree with that approach, I understand the sentiment especially in a commission based environment.

Here Here!!! Or how ever you say it.

Its not that we want to be dicks, but we get paid by the sale, not the hour.

Also, if the phone is 200 at best buy, but we have it at 150(cus you have NE2) after 100 rebate and the phone is still bought at best buy because thats an extra 50 you "saved" well dont expect me to work for free, I mean come on lol.

I also want to note that for a lot of people on these forums who know what they are doing and don't need their hands held to setup their email or whatever, more power to you if you can get a device truly cheaper.

It's the people who have no idea what they are doing that should go back to the location that they bought it at and learn how to use it.

Agreed, and BTW hows the Tab? I want to get one but dont know if I should wait untill the stingray.

Well, other than the fact that my wife almost killed me, I'm starting to find more and more uses for it. I'm considering trying out some roms now on my Droid X now. My main aversion was that I would have to reset everything. Now, I can make my tab my social device and can play around with my X and not have to reset all of my homescreens.

I like the larger screen because I can do a lot more with my documents to go.

I will say though, my X feels so much smaller after spending some time with the tab.
