WaveSecure

I'm unable to "verify" my number when trying to activate WaveSecure. I've got a U.S. number. Any tips?
I dont recall if I had to type my number in or not, but try putting a 1 in front of your 10 digit number and see if that helps

+1 Only Worked!

Thanks, Jason. I had been trying to use the U.S. Country Code (as was instructed by the WaveSecure verification screen). Apparently, it was unnecessary. Using +1 and one's 10-digit number worked just fine. Many thanks, again!:)

this weekend i had the perfect oppurtunity to test out this app. I installed this app friday afternoon, friday night i had gone out with a girlfriend of mine and left my phone at her place. When I woke up I realized I had left my phone behind, and hopped on the wavesecure website to promptly lock down my phone because i didnt want her going through it (for obvious reasons)

The process was simple. I was able to lock it down, i also tracked it using the GPS. All was good. Which now leads me to the problem.

9 hours later when I picked it up, I pressed the top power button wake up my phone and saw I had the low battery popup notification. I tried pressing the dismiss button but the screen seemed to be locked out so instead hit the home button and when i did, it took me right to my phones home screen (bypassing even then phones pattern lock). I was able to look at all my notifications, even reply to a few text messages and after about 5 minutes THEN the wave secure lock screen was displayed.

I'm curious to know if anyone's had this same problem or similar? The App seems to be an awesome needed app, but if it cant do the most important function like lock the phone remotely (and keep it locked) then it may have to go.

just seen my bill and got charged an extra 1.25 for data from international sms from wavesecure. 6 messages total

wave secure weirdness

I was trying to barcode scan an item for Calorie Counter and I noticed Calorie Counter was acting strange (all my entries were gone) and the scanner gave me an error message. So I decided to turn my phone off and back on.

When my phone came back on it had a Wave Secure "this phone has been locked " message that included my husband's phone number (he's the buddy I set up during install).

I was pretty confused, but I was able to unlock my phone and when I went into my Calorie Counter... all was right again. I called my husband and asked him if he locked my phone... I believe his exact response was "um... no"; it was pretty clear he didn't know what I was talking about.

So I went to the website to see if there were any clues there as to what was going on. All I noticed that I thought was odd is that my phone is listed under the tracking tab, almost daily since it was installed with the following message: "Your phone was switched on with this number", however the times don't jive with times I have switched my phone on.

Has anyone else had any Wave Secure weirdness?? If this happens again, I may be uninstalling and trying something else.

Everytime you power your phone back on, you get prompted to enter in the wave secure password. I don't believe this is optional with wave secure...

Cheewee,
It's been a week since I requested to have my account removed from the WaveSecure site. Haven't heard back from anyone at TenCube customer service yet. Is this a typical response time for your company?

That's odd. I installed and activated WS on the 25th. I always turn my phone off at night and this is the first time I've seen this message.

So are you saying that everytime you turn your phone on, you are prompted to enter your wave secure password?

I really like the idea, but the inconsistancy makes me a little nervous.

There are 8 pages in this thread and no one is complaining so I assume this app works, but I just can't get it to. I installed WaveSecure this morning and have sent the lock command from the website to my phone 3 times and each time it says Locking... for about 5 minutes and then comes back with the message: Your phone failed to lock and the lock command timed out. Anyone know what might cause this? Does the phone have to be powered down for it to lock? Thanks!

Edit - When I powered down the phone and turned it back on it did finally lock. Is that how this is supposed to work? Gives the thieves a long time to get to your personal info. I just installed Mobile Defense as well and that was able to lock as soon as I turned it off (but did not have to power down). That seems more useful since the phone will timeout and turn off at some point when the crook is not paying attention. Any further insights into these two programs would be gratefully welcome. Thanks again!

I first installed Wave Secure and the tracking was off by about 2 miles, it seemed to be going off cell tower usage. But to be fair, it didn't have my gps turned on.

After my weird experience (I sited earlier in this thread), I installed Mobile Defense. Mobile defense gave an address range when I "located" the phone (gps on) and when I did the satellite view, the blue dot was on top of my house; impressive.

So this morning if figured I would try the tracking thing again with WS... no luck. Still waiting for it to determine where my phone is.
{note: I gave up}

So far I still have them both installed, but I think if I really needed something I would go with Mobile Defense first. I really am considering uninstalling the WS, but I'm still on the fence. It would be nice to be able to "wipe" my phone if something happened to it, but if I could get it back that would be the ultimate goal.

I am one of three Droid owners I know that want to have our accounts deleted from the WaveSecure site. It's been over a week for me and over two weeks for one of the other owners. No one has been able to get deleted yet.

TenCube has been polite to work with, it just apparently can take a while for those of us who choose not to use this product after we've tried it out.

I think it would make sense to be able to cancel your own account right on the site, once you have validated who you are.

Just a heads-up to Droid owners considering checking out WaveSecure.

It locks by sending a text message to your phone. So if your phone didn't have any reception (testing in a basement) or was in airplane mode then it may not have received the lock message. It was already stated in a previous post "everytime you turn your phone back in you will be prompted by wavesecure".
