What have YOU done with Tasker?

NebulaOcton;910622 I have a task that gets the sun rise and set times.[/quote said:
cool can't wait to see how it works!

Thanks,

Sunrise and Sunset times - Tasker Wiki

This will only set the %SUNRISE and %SUNSET variables, you can then use them in any profile you want just make sure to set a profile to run the task at least once a day for accurate information.

Thank you very much. I have a very busy weekend, so I will have to figure out how to use this next week.

Thanks again for the hard work!

What does the new update mean as far as From-To and Repeat tasks? It says they are treated as events now? Not sure I understand what that means and whether it'll affect my profiles which have time contexts...

It will only affect your profiles that have the From and To times equal.

So if you have a profile that goes from 10.00 to 10.00 it will be treated as an event. Any others are not affected.

ah makes sense, thanks for the quick response :)

Ok guys, I know this is pretty simple. Just don't know if there is a better way.

I'm running a wifi near profile it connects to my network when close and the exit task just shuts wifi off. The issue I have is that it takes a while for it to recognize it's not near the wifi anymore and shut my wifi off (yes I know it will turn itself on to periodically check). Is there another context I should use instead of wifi near to get the quickest results (off) without sacrificing to much battery?

It is working as is, just wondering if there is a way to speed up the exit task. It connects right away. It's the disconnect/non-active profile that takes some time.

eg. the profile stays active long after I'm far from my wifi point.

Thanks for the help

I set mine up to turn wifi off when disconnected. This way as soon as you lose your routers signal it turns off Wifi.

If you do this then you can delete your exit task.

Also check out this profile I wrote for a battery saving wifi near option.

So this is two seperate profiles? One to turn wifi on and one to turn it off, both with no exit tasks?

Thanks Nebula,

So I just put this whole profile on, Seems to work right (haven't left my house yet), now my question is, is there a way to add a new wifi connection to this (obviously I would need to scan cell towers near the hotspot)? Do I have to make 3 brand new profiles for each hotspot with the new SSID and MAC? Or can I add to what I already have?

Your first question, yes two separate profiles. But I think you realize that from the above post.

You would only need to make two new profiles. The Wifi off should work on any connection so long as you don't specify the hotspot you are disconnecting from.

Great thanks again, now though it's not working, everytime it finds my wifi and connects the wifi off profile kicks in and shuts it off. Even if I munually turn wifi on. I just double checked and all the profiles are exactly the way you laid them out

I don't know what is going on.
