What have YOU done with Tasker?

Hey Nyx528- could you post some of your SMS tasker codes. I'm having some issues setting it up the way I want.

All I want is to have texts from my wife flash a certain LED, and all other texts flash another LED.

I have it set up by using two tasker apps, because I can't have two context events. So now, each app gives me a notification in the status bar, which is annoying. But, at least the correct LED flashes.

TASKER...I Need Help..

I have been working with TASKER with minimal success though I am confident that what I need to do can be done, if I can find an example or someone can shed some light on syntax.

Specifically, if I want to creat a RECEIVED TEXT EVENT that triggers a specific audible alert based on the content of the text body using the variable %SMSRB to detect a specific word within the text message body.

For instance, if the text message reads "maxwell has gone home"

I want the notification sound to be the CARHORN if the word "maxwell" is present in the text message.

The problem, I dont know how to use the variable.

do i need an if statement if %SMRSB ...blah blah blah...
and what is the syntax of blah blah blah I have read the manual regarding use of ~ ! etc..but have had no success thus far...

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Is there a way to select the notification from Tasker in the pull down notification bar and then it would open messaging??

Hey, you're the one who read it.

Yes there is.
new>event>ui>notification click> [select the notification to tap]>done
+>app>load app> [your messages app]

Make sure if you want to clear the notification when you click it to add "Notification Clear" task to your tasks.
Enjoy!

I think you're making this more difficult than it has to be.
new>event>received text> [enter the text/number/person you want to trigger the profile]
new task>+>media>music play> [select sound]>done
done

Enjoy!

I don't know how to change LED colors. The Evo only has green and amber so I've never bothered with it.

OK, thanks for the response.

For anyone's info: "Notify LED" will change the LED and add a message in the notification bar.

Thanks man! It works of course.

Have you tried adding a "notification clear" to the tasks to automagically clear the notification you don't want?

Tasker CPU Customisable Profiles - Underclocking/Overclocking/Governor Control

Every time I open this app to play with it, I'm amazed at what it can do. Below are a few of the things I've done with it, and how to do them yourself. Feel free to add any other useful profiles you've created

I'm not from around these parts, I have an HTC Desire, but I often look at this thread as it seems to be the most active regarding Tasker.

Over on XDA I've just posted a thread using the CPU Profiles. [TUT] CPU Control using Tasker [Frequency/Governor] [Customisable Profiles] - xda-developers

Have a look and let me know what you think and if I've messed them up!

I could use some help with my LED tasker apps. Should be easy, but apparently for me it is not.

I'd like my LED to flash pink when the wife texts me, and blue when anyone else sends me a text.

The task for the wife works, but when I get a text from someone else, it doesn't.

I've disabled notifications in the stock app.

Wife Text (which works fine):
Context: Received Text. Sender 'Mary Cell' (without quotes)
Task>Notify LED Colour>Pink> done> done

All other texts (doesn't work):
Context: Received Text. Sender %CNUM !~ 1234567890 (I've also tried %CNAME !~ Mary Cell)
Task>Notify LED Colour>Blue> done> done

I'd appreciate any input, I'm driving everyone crazy with my obsession with this 'simple' issue.

Thanks & Cheers!

I think for the everyone else profile you just need to leave all the optional boxes blank, or if you can do an invert, add your wife's number again then invert it.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help.

How do I write the invert (syntax)?
