What have YOU done with Tasker?

Does anyone have an idea why my taker widget icons have disappeared? Ive tried deleting the widget and recreating. I've deleated the task and rebuilt it. All to no avail. Something screwy is happening and I can't figure out what.

Help!!

I could use some help with my LED tasker apps. Should be easy, but apparently for me it is not.

I'd like my LED to flash pink when the wife texts me, and blue when anyone else sends me a text.

The task for the wife works, but when I get a text from someone else, it doesn't.

I've disabled notifications in the stock app.

Wife Text (which works fine):
Context: Received Text. Sender 'Mary Cell' (without quotes)
Task>Notify LED Colour>Pink> done> done

All other texts (doesn't work):
Context: Received Text. Sender %CNUM !~ 1234567890 (I've also tried %CNAME !~ Mary Cell)
Task>Notify LED Colour>Blue> done> done

I'd appreciate any input, I'm driving everyone crazy with my obsession with this 'simple' issue.

Thanks & Cheers!

I think for the everyone else profile you just need to leave all the optional boxes blank, or if you can do an invert, add your wife's number again then invert it.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help.

How do I write the invert (syntax)?

I tried this and it seems to work out (Thanks to Nyx528)

Wife Text :
Context: Received Text. Sender Mary Cell
Task>Notify LED Colour>Pink> done> done

Texts from everyone else:
Context: Received Text. Sender !Mary Cell (without quotes)
Task>Notify LED Colour>-Blue> done> done

I'm going to add a notification clear to the second one to get rid of the double status bar notification.

Looks like the simpler the better. :)

Is Tasker what I need?

Total noob question here....sorry, but I'm a Droid X noob.

I'd like to have something on my home screen that would place the phone in silent mode AND launch the alarm clock app when I press it...one stop nighty night.

Is Tasker what I need or is there something else?

TIA

This happens for me with GO Launcher when I reboot. If you just wait, it fixes itself.

Tasker CAN do this if you want it to. Or you could have it happen automagically with other contexts.

OK so is the Car Dock / Desk Dock status hardware specific? I have an Evo 4g and plugging into my car charger does not seem to trigger the car dock status... same with plugging in at home. Do you guys have actually dock hardware and of sound is there an Evo equivilant?

There are actual docks that trigger those contexts.
If you want to something similar with just regular USB/AC chargers, I have a menu pop up when my phone is plugged in where I choose Bedtime mode, Car mode or Charging.
Hope this helps!

You can always add a notification clear to the beginning of each set of tasks so it clears the old one before you receive the new one, too.
I've found that to work best for me.
Glad I could help!

I want tasked to check to see if the alarm is on but cannot find anything like that.

Any help.

How do I add a notification sound that plays the stock 'Droid' sound? When I goto notification sounds, it wants me to find the file to play. I don't get a drop down list of sounds to choose from.

TASKER Time Not Syncing

Hi,

I created profiles to auto send sms messages at a certain time but tasker time isn't synced up with my DX time. It will send the message when I test it and the time syncs when I open Tasker and do any action but time doesn't advance unless I open tasker.

I have the boxes checked to activate and tasker is turned on and showing up on my pull down.

Any ideas how to get this synced?

Thanks in advance.

If you tap the magnifying glass it will open a file manager, and just go to where your sounds are stored on your SD card & select it from there.

Do you have other contexts with this profile? Because they may be keeping it from activating. Also, I've found that if you have a repeating time context, they sometimes get screwy. I had a hard time with getting my data to sync every 15min. I had to add other contexts to activate it first.

Ok, thanks. Found it under/system/media/audio/ringtones DroidX.ogg. Then put on the SD card, and use that file under notifications.

I've been messing with tasker for a few weeks and am wondering if the following is possible:
I am a soccer referee. When working games I am completely unreachable for long periods of time. I'd like to create a profile that would use my calendar to activate the profile when my game begins and throughout the duration of the event, auto respond to SMS with something like "I am reffing at <event location> until <end time of event>. I will get back to you then."

I'm not sure how much of that is actually possible. I don't have any clue what the variables required would be.

This would be quite easy. Your variable would be Event > Calendar Entry > and then under Location hit the magnifying glass which pops up available locations. This list is created directly from locations set up inside your calendar.

From there you can set up auto-replies to SMS.
