What have YOU done with Tasker?

Scott26 - You should be able to add an additional State to the Profile limiting this profile to activate only when not connected to the Desk Dock: State - Docked - Desk - Inverted. You add additional States by tapping on the first state and selecting "Add."

Well that didn't work out. The way I have it set up is so that when I have a power supply activated to the phone it starts the program. So when I plug it in at night it starts it as well. Any other ideas to get my car profile to just open when I am in the car?

Scott26 - How about if you leave your Bluetooth on all the time and then the Profile states are Bluetooth connected to your car and Power Source is car adapter?

I am not sure I understand what you are trying to say? What I am going to try when I get home is have another task come in right behind the first task and kill vlingo and BT and GPS. My only concern is they will conflict and try to activate at the same time maybe I should put a 5 ms delay on the kill portion?

Maybing use a time?? Like when it's late and you normally go to bed, have the profile inactive. What do you think?

Only problem I see is when you drive when you're normally in bed.

Spoken into a can, attached to some string, attached to another can that YOU happen to be holding.

Scott26 - First of all, as a matter of principal I believe one should leave Bluetooth and GPS turned on all the time. The Operating System is designed allow you to do this with minimal battery use. Secondly the Taker Kill App function does not work, sorry it just doesn't.

For my prior suggestion to work, Bluetooth needs to already be turned on. I have a profile that turns on Pandora and sets the volume to max whenever I get in my Acura MDX. The Profile triggers because as soon as I get near the car, the Bluetooth connects to the MDX and then executes the commands.

You really only need the Bluetooth Connected State as your trigger, but if you really don't want it to trigger unless you have both Bluetooth connected to your vehicle and power connected you can set two states to be required to trigger.

And the Bluetooth Connected State is for a specific Bluetooth connection, such as my Acura MDX which is different from my Mercedes CLS.

So the commands are: New, OK, State, Bluetooth Connected, Name your Bluetooth Device by tapping the magnifying glass to the right of "Name" and selecting your BT Device from the drop down menu, Done. Then select your task.

If you want to add a second state criteria, then tap on the first state and select "Add".

I do have to admit that my MDX Bluetooth seems to be on all the time, even when the car is not running. So if I go in the garage and get close the car it activates my Profile. If you added the Power State, this wouldn't happen. But for me I usually don't connect the charger.

Since my 1995 Corolla does not have BT built into the car. I will just set up a time setting for when I go to bed if I am out later then that I will just disable it manually. Seems to be the easiest way.

Or is there a way to use reverse location mapping? So if I select my houses radius the profile will not work if within that radius.

I also added a seperate one to restore the ringer when the time is over
i only bought this app today and spent a few hours playing on it gotta say its awesome
25cents... I was wondering if you could help me! I'd like to consider myself pretty technical, however for some reason I cannot manage to wrap my head around everything tasker does. Could you help me out a bit?

I'm looking to create a couple different things to happen. If you would even help with 1, I could probably figure out the other.

First, I'd like it to silence the ringer and text notifications between certain hours, except for certain numbers for both. Is that possible?

Also, I'd like it to check periodically if I'm at a certain location and if so, to silence the ringer and notifications but leave vibrate on...

I always want vibrate on. I cannot find a widget that will silence my ringer and keep my vibrate on that doesn't also change other settings (i.e. ringtone... talk about annoying)

If you think these are too complicated, or if another app exists that will do this, please point me in the right direction! I just got this thing Monday and absolutely love it so far!

New Event > Time > From TIME 1 to TIME 2
New Task > Audio > Ringer Volume > 0
New Task > Audio > Notifcation Volume > 0
New Task > Alert > Notify > Title "Silenced"
Click "Done".

Click the Green Arrow on the right and select "Add Exit Task".
New Task > Audio > Ringer Volume > 100
New Task > Audio > Notification Volume > 100
New Task > Alert > Notify Sound > Title "Unsilenced" & LongPress on Sound and pick a Notification sound.
Click "Done".

(The Alert parts aren't needed but they are a nice way of letting you know when stuff is going on.)

"Important" Call Event
New Event > State > Incoming Call > Type in the number you want to bypass the ring
New Task > Audio > Ringer Volume > 7

(Keep in mind this will ALWAYS be active and has no ties to your time event at all. But the general idea is that it's an important call and you want it to be maxed no matter where you are. Even if you already have the ringer volume maxed.)

This will bypass the muted ringer and force it to be 7 if its the number you specify. Once the call is done ringing it returns it back to 0. If you want to add more numbers just keep adding Context to this 2nd Event. (In theory anyway, I don't have enough numbers to test. I don't know if multiple events treat it is as an OR or an AND. If it doesn't work with 2 numbers in one event you'll need to do it for each. But the general idea is that if someone important ever calls you want the Ringer to be maxed.

It's the same as above except instead of time it's location. Click "Get Fix" once you're in the area you want it to trigger in and make the range around where you'll want the GPS to trigger it and hit OK/Done. All the tasks fall in line with the same ones as above. You'll find vibrate as an option in Audio.

As for battery life, this app uses no more than any other app that syncs. Download Spare Parts and look at Partial Wake Time if you have any doubts. The new 2.2 Facebook update is causing more issues than this app does.

I have a few questions;

1) I am using tasker w/ Min Text & want to create a widget on my home screen that tells me when GPS, Keyguard & WiFi are "on" or "off" also one that shows MB currently in use. I was able to set this up but it doesn't update in real time. I have to touch it, to open the settings of the Min Text widget for it to update. Is there a way to update in real time?

2) I setup to send an SMS to my fiance on my way home from work! But, it sends when I leave for work too. Sometimes I take a different way home & have to change the GPS location in tasker (might as well just send a text right lol). Is there a way w/o using "Time" that I could set it up to send the text when I am 2miles away from my house? And only when traveling West or South?

3) Using Min Text, is there a way to set it up to go to the internent & pull an image to display or text? Like a stock quote or an image of the day or a news headline?

This thing is great & this forum is even better! Thanks to EVERYONE who takes time to answer all our "rookie" questions!

I have this problem with Power Amp and Tasked. When they are both running Power Amp is constantly stopping unless I have Tasked disabled.

Is there a way I can have tasker stop itselp if Power Amp is starter?

I have been messing with Tasker for a while now and have a question on one of my profiles.

I have a Car Dock profile that is activated when ever I plug my phone into the car power source and it launches Vlingo and turns on GPS and BT.

Now the problem I am having is that when I plug my phone into the home dock it launches it as well.

Do you have a way to disable or stop it from launching when I am home? Right now I have it just set up to only be active between 6:00 and 22:00 but there are times that I am out and about and would like for it to still launch.

Thanks,
Scott

I was having similar issues, so instead of stuff automagically happening, I have a menu of charging profiles popup when connected to any power source. I have the default set to a basic charging profile, or I can pick Bedtime or Car Mode states.
Works beautifully.
