When Will the ThunderBolt Be Available for Purchase

Wow how this thread has gone down the toilet. Does Apple REALLY need to be brought into another discussion....really?

Yes, they do. They are clearly the biggest player in the smartphone market and you're only kidding yourself if you think Apple has nothing to do with the Thunderbolt delay.

I've looked back through these pages - a lot of people complaining and talking about how off topic and "down the toilet" this discussion has become. Other than a few bumps, I have found the discussion to be interesting and informative. I agree it should stay relevant to the Thunderbolt release, but with no new news coming out on its release, I don't think it's irrelevant to discuss some of the cause for that delay - and I think the iPhone case is legitimate.

if this phone doest come out soon............ I'm going to start my own personal research project which will be focused on increasing the ram on my D1.. maybe I can just swap it out for a 512mb from a different phone using spare parts lol

If it's that big of an issue having all this attention diverted, I think it'd be legitimate if we made a "Why it's delayed" topic.

I agree +1

I agree that the iphone release could very well play a part in it...

However...What I dont agree with:

1. Tired of seeing all the CONSTANT Apple bashing all over the forum...really, If I wanted to talk about Apple I'd be in an Apple forum.

2. People being pissed at Apple because of the Thunderbolt delay, really? If your going to be angry, be angry with Verizon, who is first and foremost responsible.

And Im not taking up for Apple, just tired of people using any excuse they can find to bash something for really no reason at all. And a "few" bumps, not hardly, 50% of this thread is just argumentative/complaining which isnt constructive at all.

I think a discussion about the release date and why it's delayed go hand in hand. If we want to discuss the way Verizon is going to handle Android going forward now that they're in bed with the iPhone, then I agree it should be a separate topic.

But I do think that Verizon intended to release this phone sooner - but as soon as they got the go ahead to release the iPhone, this phone got pushed to the bottom of the to-do list.

Let's keep comments if not OT at least constructive....

My boredom from my college's spring break being opposite of everyone else's, coupled with the fact this phone was supposed to be released over my break, on top of my ADHD when it comes to stuff like this is really taking a toll. Thanks, Verizon/HTC. :icon_evil:

And you think the iphone release JUST came up....no way. They have known for a long time, obviously.

Plenty of time to plan around. Verizon screwed up.

I'm just wondering if Verizon will ever fess up to the underlying cause of all of this. It's pretty apparent this wasn't what they intended.

To be honest, I think the Skype functionality could be reason for a delay. Way back... in January... we got rumors that the Skype video chat would be taken out of the HTC Thunderbolt and when launched (Feb 14th) have a "COMING SOON". Perhaps *insert company here* is waiting for the functionality to be available before releasing it instead of putting out a phone with a game-changing missing feature.
