Really? Photos or it didn't happen. If they are switching over to Apple is it because up to now they didn't want the crappy AT&T coverage and can now get real coverage on Verizon. It may be anecdotal but 2 out of the three Apple IPhone users I know are looking at switching to a Droid phone when they can. They basically say there is no longer a compelling reason to stay with Apple.
I don't understand why this is hard to believe? I guarantee you most people were just slogging along with their Android in hopes that the iPhone would eventually make its way to Verizon. As for getting new subscribers, this is the best way for Verizon to entice potential new customers from AT&T and, especially, T-Mobile/Sprint.
54% of Verizon Android/BlackBerry Users Switching to iPhone
While most people are waiting for their contracts to end or, at least, for the iPhone 5 - you will see a lot of people moving from BlackBerry and Android to iPhone.
I get that it doesn't make sense and it's stupid - but the vast majority of people want an iPhone. Specs, power, data, speeds, capability, how closes or open a device is, hacking, rooting, tethering - none of these things matter to the vast majority of people who just want the iPhone because it's heavily advertised and most of their friends have one. It's a status symbol as much as it is a phone, and for the average joe, it's Verizon's ticket to success.
Androids are for enthusiasts and geeks. We're a minority. I think I compared the iPhone to Justin Bieber in the closed thread - yeah, he sucks. We know it. It doesn't make sense. But that doesn't make him any less popular.
effington, you have hit the nail on the head sir. I have been saying the same thing for years!!
You guys know not of what you speak!
iOS is flat out more efficient than Android. I've explained this countless times... Android runs advanced Java code on a Virtual Machine that is running on a Linux kernel. iOS runs native code, made specifically for its architecture. This is why iPhone 4 and iPad can run; Angry Birds, MLB at bat (with streaming video), ESPN Radio, and anything else that's available on both platforms, better than Android. (While also running at a higher resolution, with lesser "specs") Its also why iPhone has better battery life, and a smaller size than all of its top competitors.
iOS also has VERY good "unofficial" devs, and just as many "tinkerers" (people like us) as Android. Seriously, check out the forum sometime.
There's a reason iPhone 3gs is still being sold and supported, and it isn't just the marketing...
With that being said, LTE and other technological advancements tend to lean things back in Android's direction, simply due to its rapid deploy rate.
