I was originally bummed the Atrix was AT&T only, but then after reading that, the TB looks much, much better in comparison to me.

What a great day.. My D1 has been on the fritz.. called Verizon and they are sending me replacement for free.. now the wait for the TB won't be so bad. Get to root and hack another D1 from stock.. of course got to un-root and hack my current D1..

Ive still yet to sell my old iphone 3gs. Thinking of ebaying a used D1. Are they all Ive heard about? I know I can sell my iphone for a good chunk, its absolutely perfect. Wondering how much a D1 would cost in decent shape to hold me over until TB launch.

I dont remember where it was, but I was going to preorder the atrix a week or so ago, and I came upon an article with a motorola rep stating that it indeed does use all the RAM(1gb) for regular tasks as well as docking functionality. I'll have to go find that article now...

At this point why not just wait for the Bionic? Q2 is right around the corner especially if the thunderbolt is released the 10th.

The Atrix uses the same amount of RAM while you are using the phone. The extra 512 is used for the joke of a linux OS called Webtop.

It wouldn't be possible for the programming to allocate 1 GB of RAM to the Android OS then divide it when it is plugged in to the overpriced laptop dock.

Each partition is given a certain amount of memory to use which is always half of the full RAM. If anyone is thinking about dual-booting operating systems, that's completely different.

And since the webtop has to be somewhat running in the background, it will be a constant resource hog. So... even while using the phone... the Bionic (same chip as the Atrix) will be quicker because it doesn't have that running constantly also has a better camera. The larger screen in the Bionic might slow it down more and perhaps make it slower than the Atrix, but hardware-wise the Bionic is faster.

oh dang i didnt know that..

the only thing to keep me from buying the TB is if something 1.2ghz or higher is announced to come out in the next 3 months.. which is very unlikely.. lol

This Week’s Best Buy Add Shows Nothin’ but $299 for the Thunderbolt - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

I was told 250, it was in the ad for 250, I better be getting it as 250.
The first ad didn't say if it was already out, or coming, this one doesn't either.
For those saying there was no release date set, BB set the date themselves.
Haven't they learned their lesson yet?

This is really getting annoying.

There is a thread over at XDA that says if you bring in a copy of the ad stating $249 that BB will honor it. I printed it out today just in case.

I read somewhere that the phone was having problems. I am just hoping that it will not go the route of the HTC Merge.. That would be a Big mistake on HTC.

coming in spring, if you are still interested in the Merge! I wanted the
Merge too, but I think the TB will be much better, if it ever releases!!

K. After reading all the posts since last reading here we go...

1. There was no release date by Verizon (Q1 is not a date) so any "delay" is because Best Buy decided to do preorders. Release dates are not certain so just because Verizon tells Best Buy we are releasing it next week, that isn't set in stone... it can change. It's Best Buy's fault for doing preorders.

2. Just because Best Buy posts something... ERR... anything anywhere doesn't mean it's true.

3. The April release date is a joke... I almost died laughing so hard at "our speculation"

4. Once again, the Best Buy computer screens are not truthful. There was one for the 14th and the 24th. Droid-life also even said they believe the March 4th date more than the one that was posted of a Best Buy document for the 10th.

5. One AWESOME THING... that I noticed. In next week's ad, the HTC Thunderbolt is stated as having Skype video calling and 4G Mobile Hotspot so unless they decided not to change this week's errors in their Weekly ad also... (Though this is Best Buy... weekly ads ... unless not corrected... are believable) so it looks like we might see these features after all!

6. The HTC Thunderbolt has been advertised on TV for about a week and a half now which is a very good sign of a release coming quite soon (the Droid Incredible was advertised for 2 weeks)!

Still hoping for a March 4th (or 3rd) release. And probably announcement the 28th.

...and BB reads the forums and sees everyone drooling all over the place. They decided another 50 per was reasonable.

March 6th shouldn't even be there... Verizon doesn't release on Sundays.


Update: According to OG Incredible over at AC (the guy who posted the March 4th with pics to prove) said there won't be Skype at launch.

I just looked at the ad on the BB website. It says "$249.99 After Savings". Is the savings the $50 gift card I've been sitting on since I pre-ordered on Feb. 6th?
