I STILL don't see what all the hype is about regarding the EVO 2 errr thunderbolt..ppl shoulda learned their lesson with tha whole htc merge..dinc hd mess from a few months back with the speculated release dates and rumors..htc says its not ur dream fone but the one after..well by the look of things its just a dream at this point

HTC Merge is coming out this spring to North American retailers lol...

Name me a phone that is unlocked with the same specs and hardware or better.

Or a phone with better hardware that will actually update their phones (Samsung...) and doesn't bloat their phones to hell (Moto).

& on Verizon.

I don't understand why people would buy from bb theydont offer one year contracts I would never try and keep this phone for 2 yrs with the phone industry coming out with new phones so rapid

Could this all just be simpler that we are all making it out to be? Is Verizon just waiting to hit a certain number of iPhones sold before allowing the Thunderbolt to go on the market? I'm sure they had some kind of quota to hit, and have not reached it yet, because they did not sell as many as expected (besides the existing customer pre-order). They do not want to release this phone and have all the iPhones sitting on a shelf in the back. Sure they will get sold eventually, but if the TB comes out now, it might take a long time. They've been waiting so long to get the iPhone that it is taking priority over Android right now obviously. Maybe that's why there are so many dates speculated and changed, and no one in corporate is willing to give a specific release date to the public. Because they just don't exactly know when they will hit their goal. But they know it will be soon, and they can't hide from all the advertisements they've paid for that are all over the TV and internet.

I'll be happy if we see it 2/28 (but not holding my breath), frustrated if I have to wait until 3/3-4, and pissed if I have to wait until 3/10 or 3/17 (even though that was the original date leaked by bmx in his poem awhile back, things have changed since then to get our hopes up). If it is 3/10, that means I pre-ordered a full month before release, which is kind of ridiculous to me. There is no way it should be any later than that, people need to stop reading all the no-name blogs out there claiming April that are in no way, shape, or form credible in the least, basically speculating on nothing.

Even though we've heard rumors of Skype being the culprit, a simple software update could fix that, so I don't see them delaying release simply for that reason alone, there would have to be others too. Now if there are still problems with the LTE network (eg. 3G/4G hand-off issue, poor battery life on 4G), I can see that being the major reason. I certainly hope that is not the case because we might have to wait awhile longer if so. Who knows how long that would take to fix?

I triple dog dare someone to do some investigative reporting on why we don't have the Thunderbolt yet. Let's stop asking Verizon and best buy

you make a good point about quotas. BUT the reason i dont FULLY buy it is because black man x or whatever his name is who i think {correct me if im wrong} works with the phone, says there are issues they are working on. it sounds like software issues to me....

4g issues

I've read on the net, and talked to a few vzw employee's today, and they both said that the issue with the phone is with 4g lte. Right now the xoom tablet launched with 3g. There will be a software uprade for it to go to 4g, but you have to ship it to motorola. What they think is that the software to make the thunderbolt 4g is having issues. It works fine on 3g now but that really defeats the purpose. Like past release dates this is all just a guess, but it's not some huge mystery like others are trying to make it out to be, or a back room deal with apple, htc or verizon. If the stuff was working it would be on the market now. They just wanna work out all the bells and whistles to make sure it's going to kick butt like it should. People in the know, know that the release date has been pushed back. To what date they are unsure. It could be the 6th 10th or even in April. Might as well do it right the first time.

You could be right right about things being simpler than we are making them but there is just too many unanswered questions that I would like to have answered before I buy a Thunderbolt whenever they give us a release date

Stupid glitchy phone....anyways..I was saying, that I agree with the quota idea, because the manager at a VZW near where I worked was very open and candid about the fact that Corp did not want to have the iphone over shadowed by the TB. But most people that are eligible for upgrade will get it when they can or have it already and those that were on the fence have decided, so now they should make the rest of us poor sods happy by releasing our chosen platform and quit humoring the rotten apple.

As soon as Thunderbolt drops I bet there is going to be a lawsuit. Unless they settle or make an agreement behind the scenes. They might be a little worried now that moto is getting sued over Xoom trademark infringement the day after it was released and especially since Verizon is the one with the Thunderbolt trademark

Be kind of stupid for HTC to ship them out if there was a major software issue like not working with 4g. I can see skype, as they stated it could be pushed later.
