When Will the ThunderBolt Be Available for Purchase

I'm beginning to think verizon is going to drop the thunderbird and focus everything on the bionic.

Not gonna happen. The devices have been built already, the marketing has been paid for and put into circulation. Its going to come out no matter what, the question is just when. You have no basis for your comment. Do you have any idea how much money VZW would lose if they scrapped this device at this late stage in the game?

Doesn't matter to me as my ne2 isn't up until may and I just bought a droid x off of ebay that i should be getting monday or tuesday.

Don't know if I can hold out much longer. I may have to give into the iPhone. I need a phone now, cant take this blackberry storm piece of crap super brick constant freezing 10 minute booting frustrating battery pulling thingy anymore.

I'm guessing that everyone who wants the Thunderbolt does not just happen to be at the end of their contract or eligible for new every 2, and yes, I know that's going away.

I'm also guessing that most of you have at least a D1. What I wonder is what happens when the TB comes out and you find out that two months later HTC has something else coming out? Do you absolutely have to have the latest and greatest or are all of you rich?

Sorry, that's a bit off topic I know but I am curious. Who's paying full price?

Paying full price would be stupid. The cost of buying it for a 2 year contract and then canceling the contract would cost less... (unless you're in a contract already. In that case... good luck.)

If I'm still on my 2 year contract but am past 1 year doesn't Verizon do an annual upgrade and you can buy a new phone for the 2 year contract price and it will just renew your contract? I called Verizon last year in Dec and they said yes but I just wanted to make sure.

I've never really understood it. I've always been 2 year contracts, I don't know why. The first smart phone I had was a Blackberry Storm and I had it just under a year when the 2 came out. I called Verizon just to see what I could do and they offered me the 2 for something like 300.00. Not full price but not their "new every two" deal.

My contract renewed and I replaced the Blackberry with the D1 in November of 2009. But I was eligible for a new phone in October 2010. I called in September and they did an early upgrade with a 2 year renewal, but this time my renewal isn't showing up for another 13 months from now.

I have never figured it out really. Now that they've dumped the new every 2 I still have one left but after that I definitely don't know. I just know that I'm going to have my D2 for quite a while.

And that of course explains why I don't have the enthusiasm that everyone else has for the TB. But I'm sure many of the people getting one are in the same position as me.

But you didn't see apple come out with a new Mac with "Incredible™ technology" when the htc droid incredible came out its just funny

And the fact that apple and Intell debuted Thunderbolt™ technology when it was htc thunderbolt's rumored release that is what is really my issue even if I was not getting the tbolt that's just my thing I find it funny strange

Ok, there's a page on Facebook (Yea, I know) claiming that there's an "official" launch date of 8/25/2011.

If in fact that happens to be the case, I think I will have to pick up a Droid X for now. this Voyager is killin me!

I just noticed it's also stating that the TB will be $499 with 2 year contract, $999 without.

Please, for the love of God, let that be total BS!

I'm hoping "Discounted Price" means 2 year contract price :]

With 6 family lines and 7+ business lines I alway have an upgrade available. This allows me upgrades every 6 months. With how much I pay VZW a month they could really give me one a year for free.
