I STILL don't see what all the hype is about regarding the EVO 2 errr thunderbolt..ppl shoulda learned their lesson with tha whole htc merge..dinc hd mess from a few months back with the speculated release dates and rumors..htc says its not ur dream fone but the one after..well by the look of things its just a dream at this point
Yet, according to what I've read, that full GB is not usable when the phone is not plugged into its obnoxiously expensive docking station doohickey. The phone alone, IIRC, still utilizes only 512 MB.
I was originally bummed the Atrix was AT&T only, but then after reading that, the TB looks much, much better in comparison to me.
Rant:
Alright I have to poke in here. Everyone is freaking out about less RAM on the newer models but if you're old enough to remember the growth of computer hardware you would have experienced how much of a boost DDR2 is over DDR. There's a reason in computers they haven't increased RAM size in a long time. The bandwidth of the access to the memory is the bottleneck. DDR2 has literally twice.the bandwidth. Its not like system drives where the size is as important. Even hard drives are working on the interface (have you heard of SSDs) Alright sorry for the rant. I just don't want to see anything more about RAM discussions unless its with people who know or are willing to learn (in other words in a forum or thread about that subject).
Back on topic: It really is terrible the way they are handling this. My BB didn't even know what the phone was. I hope bog red at least has the courtesy to inform it's customers how to let us give them our money soon.
Because he is a moderator on this site and watches these threads closely. There have been dozens of Thunderbolt threads and I can't count the number that have been forced to be closed by the actions of a few. I closed several personally. If you think he is derailing threads, you need to look at the rest of them.
Seriously, its hard to keep up because I have to read through 20 worthless or off-topic comments to find someone actually talking intelligently about this topic instead of giving links or making references to things that have nothing to do with the release date of this phone. Come on guys, let's focus here!
I'm guessing that everyone who wants the Thunderbolt does not just happen to be at the end of their contract or eligible for new every 2, and yes, I know that's going away.
I'm also guessing that most of you have at least a D1. What I wonder is what happens when the TB comes out and you find out that two months later HTC has something else coming out? Do you absolutely have to have the latest and greatest or are all of you rich?
Sorry, that's a bit off topic I know but I am curious. Who's paying full price?
D1 from about a week after launch date. I use the hotspot feature a lot and hate it when a call interrupts the connection. I have my second line up in July in case something earth-shattering comes out. I'm thinking a quad-core in mid to late 2012?
He told everyone if they went off topic they would receive an infraction. Yet he goes and starts a whole new conversation, not having anything to do with the ThunderBolt release date.
FOR THE... 5th? Time...
Verizon/HTC would be filing a lawsuit against Apple. Verizon/HTC already filed for the Trademark a long time ago... (December).
It will cost HTC/Verizon a lawyer(s) and fees(pocket change for them) for a Trademark dispute. And that's only if Apple refuses to settle.
For the second time... the Apple "thunderbolt" port has NOTHING to do with the HTC Thunderbolt. There will be no court case as there is no dispute.
Since the two things are not related at all, the trademark means nothing. I don't even know if you can trademark the word "Thunderbolt", just the logo... (which is kinda stolen from Gatorade)
Now, if Apple released an iPhone Thunderbolt, the trademark would matter since they would both be phones....
