When Will the ThunderBolt Be Available for Purchase

I'm guessing that everyone who wants the Thunderbolt does not just happen to be at the end of their contract or eligible for new every 2, and yes, I know that's going away.

I'm also guessing that most of you have at least a D1. What I wonder is what happens when the TB comes out and you find out that two months later HTC has something else coming out? Do you absolutely have to have the latest and greatest or are all of you rich?

Sorry, that's a bit off topic I know but I am curious. Who's paying full price?

I would pay full price I am happy with my X but my brother just got an Evo and I had mytouch 4g before the X but I don't want to write a new contract. Also my drummer has an incredible. I guess this forum and all the marketing have got me but I would like some of the upgrades and get on 4g

How much would a Thunderbolt tradmark dispute potentially cost Verizon? Would they have to call it the thud-er-bolt?

FOR THE... 5th? Time...
Verizon/HTC would be filing a lawsuit against Apple. Verizon/HTC already filed for the Trademark a long time ago... (December).

It will cost HTC/Verizon a lawyer(s) and fees(pocket change for them) for a Trademark dispute. And that's only if Apple refuses to settle.

If it is a Battery Issue then there can be a longer wait then originally planned. They can not release the phone with an Battery issue no matter if you are in 4G Area or not. It will cost them a lot more money on people returning there phones then to just fix the problem before releasing it..

Agreed. If it is true that the battery life on 4G only lasts and hour or two right now, that is a huge problem and could take an indefinite amount of time to remedy. But why are we only hearing about this now? Don't you think they would have discovered this 2 months ago and had time to work it out during testing? And if its the actual LTE network causing the problem and not the phone itself, this is a big deal for everything else coming in the future too, including the Bionic. So they probably have all their top guys working on the problem to fix it ASAP. This could be disastrous for marketing of the LTE network if they don't take care of it soon.

Battery life is already a major concern with HTC phones, and they did not put a very large one in the TB to start with (still a mind boggling choice to me to have a 1400 mAh, they should have gone at least with a 1600 or even a 2000, it would not have cost that much more, and it would be worth it considering the high price tag we would already be paying for the phone). And what ever happened to that theory that using LTE was actually supposed to help with battery life?

Hook, not rich, but yes, want the latest if I can. I will go with a 1 yr contact if available since they are yanking the annual upgrade. The phone themselves just don't last the 2 yrs anyway. Beside I don't drink much, don't smoke, do do drugs, so I have to have some vice, right?

Reason I want the thunderbolt is because I had the Droid 2 back in november. I sent it in for a replacement (dead pixel) and they sent me a D2G (also with a dead pixel) and I didnt feel like saending it back again, so I kept it. But the Droid 2 Global doesnt seem to be getting much love from the devs as they all got Droid 2's, so I feel like I got kinda screwed over in a way.

I got this phone from wirefly by adding a new line on my current plan, so my main line has an old non-smartphone. Wirefly wont let me switch the D2G to my main line for several months or hey'll charge me the full price of the phone for breach of contract or something.

SO, I'm gonna upgrade my main line to the thunderbolt and once I'm able to make changes to the line I opened through wirefly, I'm just gonna put my old non-smartphone on there and retire the D2G.

Paying full price would be stupid. The cost of buying it for a 2 year contract and then canceling the contract would cost less... (unless you're in a contract already. In that case... good luck.)

If I'm still on my 2 year contract but am past 1 year doesn't Verizon do an annual upgrade and you can buy a new phone for the 2 year contract price and it will just renew your contract? I called Verizon last year in Dec and they said yes but I just wanted to make sure.

I am an avid tech head, and usually get a new phone every 12-14 months or so. My old 3gs was the best att phone when it came out, but network isssues have forced me to need to switch. I will definetly do a one year contract. I work full time, so not all that worried about the price, plus theres always ebay.

If absolutely nothing else, I'm looking to get a top end phone on 4G so I can grandfather my unlimited data. I've a feeling that Verizon might ninja the new data plans on us like they did with the change in renewals and upgrades. (Without press release)

I've been eligible to upgrade on another family member's line for months, and now my own upgrade is coming up in early March. I have been patiently waiting for this phone since I saw the first picture in August on BGR. Its so close I can taste it with all the commercials and ads, and yet so far because we STILL have no officially confirmed release date (complete BS from the powers that be) and there are rumors of issues still plaguing the device. I would not pay full price for this phone though, especially not at $750. HTC will have something better coming out (ie. dual core + some more upgraded specs), but probably not until the end of the year or later. Just because a new rumor mill will start all over again for the new device when it leaks in a few months does not mean I'm going to continue following it and waiting months and months for it to come out instead of getting the TB. I have committed to this device at this point, and I will hang onto the TB for about a year (or more if it is still doing the job I need it to do, still fast enough, still running snappy, etc.) then sell it myself on eBay to upgrade at that time (and then possibly pay full price for something off contract with the proceeds, then do the same thing when I'm eligible for my discounted upgrade again). Maybe I'll skip dual core altogether and go straight to a quad core sometime in the middle of or late next year. I am not rich (yet), and I do not always have to have the latest and greatest. But I am a smart consumer and I do a lot of research before making a major electronics purchase.
