When Will the ThunderBolt Be Available for Purchase

this is still all speculation though right? nothings been confirmed as usual... we wont ever really know why this delay keeps happening until verizon says something official which we all know they wont

No real sense in making some huge announcement for a phone that hasn't been released to the public yet. It's been put back so long, that would be increased embarrassment. They are better off keeping their mouths shut.

Negative press probably won't help sales either.

Exactly right.

I spoke with Verizon corporate earlier in the week and the CSR told me the reason for the delay is the iphone. I believe that over a battery issue at this point.

No sense in speculating. There will always be a 15 day return policy no for the iPhone. So there really is no valid period to hold off on its release due to the iPhone sales. Just doesn't make sense. I suspect there is something else.

Anybody read the recent news about why the thunderbolt is taking so long? BAD BATTERY LIFE!!

I don't buy any stock in that purported rumor. After all, this phone has been in the making for a long time. HTC has been in business making smartphones for a long time. I think it's Verizon politics driving the delay/announcement of this phone.

engadgets tipsters said the phone is dying after 3-4 hours from full to dead.. that is worth a delay imo.. i dont want to deal with that bs.. bugs here and there i can tolerate and have many times on diff roms but battery life is a biggy for me.. my D1 barely gets by a 10 hour day and i charge it in my car on my lunch lol

i was hoping this can be AT LEAST as good if not a fair amount better..

Well, My Droid will go from full to dead in 3-4 hours too if I'm hammering the piss out of it. If I use it conservatively; i can go 18+ hours on a charge. The realization is that It's a cool, fast phone on a 7-12Mbps network. Testers, and soon to be consumers are going to be using the hell out it this phone for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and probably +++ more times after landing in the hands of people. That's life folks.

My bet is that VZW wants to make sure that their "new baby" LTE network is going to be robust enough for the initial surge of data traffic though it at launch.

Has everyone seen the new graphic vid posted by YouTube that shows activations over a spread timeline? Look what happened at the Moto Droid launch, that was some serious stuff. Rest easy folks, this phone will come out soon.

I am not saying I agree with their logic and only reporting what I was told. Who knows what kind of agreement Verizon has with Apple. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if that were the case (as to why they haven't released the TB yet). And I have not seen an official TB release date posted from Verizon yet...so in reality, the phone has not been delayed. Right?? :)

People really should get past the iPhone being the boogeyman causing all Android issues with Verizon. Android was doing things like this long before the iPhone. At some point the blame needs to end. They hurt themselves not releasing other new units. I don't buy the iPhone excuse for a second.

I have nothing against the iphone and if Verizon had the phone 3 years ago, I would have bought one then. I just would not switch to AT&T for anything. I can't tell you why the CSR told me the ihpone was the reason for the delay but he did. Is it not possible that the launch of the iphone could be the cause of the TB delay? I am very happy with the android OS and won't buy an iphone, but that's just me.

Why? It's pretty well known that the iPhone 4 launch put lots more demand on the existing 3G network, that had to be tested and even strengthened before the release of the iPhone. What do you think happened to the testing and roll-out of the 4G LTE network at that time frame? I absolutely think that the delay of the Thunderbolt has to do with the iPhone 4 release.

Sorry, I didn't mean for that to sound so pointed at you. That wasn't the intention. I think at this point the Verizon reps have gotten so frustrated answering all of the emails and phone calls that I'm sure they're getting, they say whatever sounds the most reasonable to get people off the phone. We've seen many times before that they usually don't have much more insight into releases, if not less information, than we typically do.

Sure, anything is possible. I just think you're barking up the wrong tree. Did it slow things down some? Probably. But I don't think it has much of anything to do with the extent of this delay. I believe there is something else.

I know its a real surprise, but not everything evil in this world is Apple's fault. ;)
