When Will the ThunderBolt Be Available for Purchase

Does the price not bother anyone else?

Talking about the 299 price for the 2 year.

We've already discussed this earlier, but I'll indulge you. (a) Verizon will release the phone for $250 on a new 2 year contract, $700 off-contract. (b) Best Buy has a price-matching guarantee. (c) Take an older BB ad for the Tbolt, or a new Verizon ad (when they come out), and you will get your phone for $250 at BB, not $300. I've also read elsewhere that BB is not even supposed to be advertising it for $300 right now, and Verizon will tell them to sell if for $250 when it releases (don't know how true that rumor is). Either way, you will not have to pay $300 on-contract unless you are completely uninformed and let them take advantage of that. If you do a little maneuvering you can get it for less.

btw CK is right fools

Quite broad. Care to elaborate?

EDIT: Oh okay nevermind.

3 little months before Dual core Moto hits ha ha ha!

4. Late Q2 is what was said.

I took one look at Motoblur and said "NO WAY". A "Social" UI isn't the thing for me. I don't put my life on a webpage. I'll take Sense any day.

A OS to optimize dual cores in phones hasn't even been released :D and since Bionic is supposed to ship with Froyo (from what we've heard so far), you would be 2 full versions behind.

I'm buying the Thunderbolt on a 1-year contract so I can buy a 2nd gen dual core that might actually double the processing power. For now they only do about 10-30% more than single core devices. By that time a 2nd gen dual core that is optimized with a dual core OS should be released. :D

on a side note - did anyone get the Seidio battery? Is $50 worth the jump from 1400 to 1600? I'm not sure if I should get it or not.

I am heavily debating it right now as well. The extra 1400 batteries from Verizon will be at least $40, if not $50, so might as well get the bigger Seidio. But is the 1600 going to grant that much extra usage (could be a minimal capacity gain, and might even drain faster than an OEM battery would)? Or do I want the 2750 from HTC instead? Can I wait that long for it to come out, and will the extra bulk drive me crazy trying to pocket it and/or find a case that fits? I'm very close to pulling the trigger on the Seidio so I can have it later this week, along with their Innocase Surface and possibly a screen protector.

Let us know what you decide and why...an extra battery is always nice to have around.

Cool - I think I'm gonna try out the stock battery first, and see what it gets me. I have had both the SGP and Seidio screen protectors, and I really think the SGPs are better (the new ultraclear even has a hardness rating of 4 compared to Seidio's 3 I believe). I went with SGP and a friend got the Seidio in anticipation of the TB - the Seidio doesn't even have the extra layer of film for application (that allows you to smooth out bubbles without scratching the underlying film). So, obviously, I would recommend SGP.

Thanks for the input. I had previously decided to go with the Seidio screen protector for sheer convenience since I was already ordering a case and possibly battery from them, but then I saw that Steinheil released their new SGP Ultra Series for the TB recently, and after reading up on them I think I will try that instead. I hate bubbling, and I am very hesitant to try the wet-application brands. I think I will go for the Ultra-Fine (anti-fingerprint) instead of the Ultra-Clear though. Thoughts on that choice psu? I think both will be excellent.

As soon as the phones show up at my store ill let you guys know. They have been on order for about 2 wks now. Got an email last thursday saying they would be shipped out asap should get them "soon"™.

I think any one of the 3 choices they have available should work well - I have an SGP on my incredible right now and it's been on for a long long time.

So, release today??

Thanks!! Very much appreciated!

I just hope when this phone finally comes out i don't have to wait 5 months for otterbox to release something, like my evo.

I will probably get the Otterbox Commuter as well when it comes out. It will not be available at release of course, but they are already selling one for the Inspire 4G which came out fairly recently, so I don't expect it to take them 4-5 months for the TB like with the EVO, maybe more like 1-2 months (or less, hopefully).

Hopefully, i was waiting for the defender. i work at a brewery so any extra protection is a good thing. waiting from june to november though sucked. I may have to get another seidio active to hold me over if it looks like it's gonna be a while.
