Well, from the horse's mouth, 5x starts shipping today...
Also, for those interested in Project fi and still waiting on an invite, I saw a tweet that they're offering immediate invites for 24 hours to celebrate the launch of the 5x. No idea if you have to have purchased a 5x, but if you're waiting on an invite, might be a good idea to look into it.
Do people seriously use their phones on a desk, just sitting there, that often? I've seen/read a few reviews now where that's a huge complaint about the fingerprint sensors being on the back. I almost NEVER use my phone sitting on a desk/other surface. Even if I do, I'll likely have just taken it from my pocket and already unlocked it.
The Ars Technica review in particular that I'm currently reading mentions it in a few different places. Pick the damn phone up. Haha!
I don't even leave mine sit on the arm of my recliner when I'm lounging if I'm using it or checking something.

If Verizon increases my UPD the $20, I will be leaving them. I'm going to get an invite.
I laugh at those kind of "complaints". I pick my phone up to use it. It wasn't designed to sit on a desk and be used. Go buy a phone that has a dock if you want that.
I missed that. I've never had a phone with a fingerprint sensor so I don't think it will be an issue for me. I do use a case with a kickstand for reading on it sometimes, but I'm reasonable sure I can still unlock it the good 'ole fashioned way if necessary. Way more interested in the overheating issue, camera, lag (if any) etc.
It's funny to see the nit pickin that goes on these days, guess that's a good thing because it means there are no BIG issues to complain about ?
I'm certain they will raise my UDP. I'm on the fence about Fi and giving up VZW coverage. Though I read somewhere that Sprint roams on VZW. If that's true then Fi might have better coverage overall since it will use T-Mobile or Sprint in the few places VZW doesn't have coverage ?
At this point I'm thinking maybe sign up for Fi, and keep the Note on VZW for a few months to see how it goes.
Once I kick VZW to the curb there's like no going back.
That is my plan. Run both for a month or two to test it out. Only issue I have is not having all my texts under my main phone #.
FYI - I just got an instant invite for FI. Looks like they don't limit you to the 5X buying.
I'll probably end up carrying both phones, since I'll get a new # for Fi. I'll also tell those whose texts I care about to use Hangouts or FB Messenger instead of SMS for the trial period. Not like I actually talk on the phone much anymore.
I will too most likely. I've had this # for almost 18 years. I'd hate to lose it.

Just watched an unboxing video - Jeez I'm torturing myself.
Don't know how but on other sites that have "Shipping threads" a bunch of people posted up they are in the Oct 29th to Nov 3rd batch and they ordered 10 days after us.
I can't watch anymore videos. I'm about to fly to where ever and get my phone.
