Who is waiting for the OTA ICS??

Here's the easiest explanation. Download the .233 zip. That's what I'm running. put it on your SD card, and rename it "Update" so that it reads "update.zip". Boot into stock recovery by shutting down then phone, then power back up while holding both volume buttons. Select "stock recovery" from the boot menu by pressing vol up. Select "install update.zip from SD Card" from the next menu. reboot after the install, and done. Don't freak out if it takes forever to get a 4G connection or certain things to respond. That's how it always is after updates.

Why 2233? Wouldn't you recommend 230 as it's the latest?

I changed the file to "update.zip" on my OG Droid going to Froyo. This is the first time I heard that with ICS. Good to know.

Changing the name isn't required, it just makes the phone look for that instead of you manually navigating to it from recovery

Thanks for the info, all. I guess ill give it a shot. If or when the OTA release drops, will I be able to get it if I've flashed the leak?

Not automatically, no. There's some work involved if the OTA ends up being a different build than the current 230 leak. (It's looking increasingly likely that 230 will be the update that's pushed out but no one knows for sure). If the OTA version is different, you'll be able to use my script to update to it without losing any data or apps. We're currently in the process of making that process even easier by creating a zip file that you extract on your desktop and run it. Nothing is foolproof when working with leaks so there is risk involved but the risk is fairly low. Worse case you may have to do a full restore of the phone and have to reinstall your apps. That's the worse case.

That's not a big issue since I just received a new phone from VZW because of this data dropping issue. Thanks. Ill try it out this morning when I get to the office.

Is there any issues with softbricks like we was all having with our razrs? I just traded my razr for a bionic a few days ago and want to go back ics.

No. We've been able to successfully move back and forth between GB and ICS builds with no issues. For some reason moto didn't lock down the bionic like they did on RAZR and D4. We are grateful for that.

And so far i am just as happy with the bionic as i was the razr. If not more because it dont feel like i am going to break the bionic when i hold it.

I was waiting until I installed 230 last night, I gotta say the phone is night and day difference. Not only is the OS better, I'm up to 1.2ghz now and I disabled or uninstalled about 15 worthless apps, love it. If ur waiting like I was and was jealous of hearing people switch I highly suggest going for it, u won't be dissapointed :)

Looks good, man! I went with .230 cause it was the one I could find. 4G seems stable and okay for now. Ill keep an eye on it over the weekend and see what gives. Thanks to all of you! So, now that Im on ICS, what would need to be done in order to get the real one once it drops?

If the real ICS is the same as .230 you won't have to do anything. Otherwise you'll have to go back to .905. There's some information at http://www.droidforums.net/forum/motorola-droid-bionic/214902-downgrade-902-no-app-data-loss.html, but there may be other methods. They all seem to get you to .902, but you can get the .905 update OTA.

I just updated that method so that it'll push the 905 and 230 updates to your phone. If a new update is leaked, you just replace the 230 update in the updates dir with the new one and it'll push that instead. :)

Just to clarify....push != install. It just puts them on your sdcard-ext so you can flash them manually in recovery.
