Will you return the nexus if the signal is not fixed?

Biased? Did you read what the OP said? He's one of the people having issues with their Nexus. One could infer that he was asking for the opinions of other individuals in the same position i.e. those of us that have the same problem. Your opinion is the one that would make any results biased because the OP isn't asking YOU. Would you value the opinions of the Muslim individual if you were conducting a poll as to whether or not you should serve ham for Christmas? (*Note* This comment is not meant to be disrespectful or bigoted in any way but to show the importance of having a clearly defined subset of a population for survey sampling)

Yes I read the OP.

Did you really just compare a religious value decision to two people with the same device sharing different results?

How is it not important that many members aren't having issues? Doesn't that info give hope to those who are having issues that it's not happening on every phone? Doesn't it also let those people who are having issues know that maybe they should at least look at getting a replacement? Just take a look at this thread, more people posted who don't have the issue than those that do.

I'd say it's highly important for us not having issues to share our experiences/locations/settings ect... It could be the difference between someone keeping the device, replacing it, or moving on to another device.

Either way, it's not blatantly defending the device, it's attempting to share information to be helpful.

This is an Internet forum, a discussion between users. I don't see how the previous posts didn't contribute to the thread. The thread was created to find other people's opinions and some people just don't have a signal issue, if you can't deal with that just take the phone back or complain to Verizon. . This thread won't fix your issue nor make it worse.

The thread was created by someone that has the radio issues on their Nexus. Why would he care what the opinions of those who aren't having the issue are when they're just going to do what they've been doing and come into threads with thier totally useless posts that contribute NOTHING to a thread saying "there is no signal issue." "I don't have a signal issue." "I previously had a D1 and havent upgraded since then but this is the best phone ever and you simply are wrong. This phone is perfect and nothing is wrong with it. Yes even yours that has no signal. It's perfect."

I dont think anyone has said anything about denying the signal problem in its entirety, just that not all of us are experiencing it...i dont understand why everyone is getting so upset about this issue.

Using the same logic, please explain me how is saying that you have the same problem with the OP is providing a solution? Isn't this just another useless post?

This is how the rest of Verizon's phones already show signal strength, the Nexus was the first one to show an accurate signal. Apple did the same thing with the 3GS.

Sorry you have data/signal issues, but there are tons of us who don't. Remember, people who aren't having issues aren't going to come to the forums to complain when they don't have the problem, only the people who are having issues have a voice here.

So I don't need a signal fix, as long as the phone stays the same as it is now I'll keep it.

Sorry, but I dont agree with that. Havent since all this started. Its showing an accurate LTE signal, according to Anandtech and If I'm following the article correctly.

This is a phone first. It should show the CDMA, EVDO signal since thats what the phone uses for phone reception, not LTE signal. If/when 3G is phased all the way out, we are using VoLTE, thats another story. Until then.....my phone should show me the phone reception signal, not the data signal. Even with LTE enabled. If Samsung, Google really want to be special about showing the LTE signal they should have a separate line for LTE signal in the About Phone/Status area. With LTE enabled it shows an up, down arrow in the notification area....why not just have separate bars over there for data signal then?

IMHO.

Since there are still 3G only phones on their network....why create this confusion? Ppl that have been going by decibels over the past year with Android phones would automatically assume somethings very wrong with their phone comparing it to their previous Android phones. Think about the T Bolt and Rezound that can do voice and data over 3G. Wouldnt showing the LTE signal be considered wrong for those 2 phones?

We all must also remember that signal, reception issues wont really be noticed unless in a bad reception area. Unfortunately all of us arent lucky enough to be in great reception areas all the time. If I take 2 phones on the same network, try to use them in a bad reception area and one works good, ok while the other doesnt work good to not at all......there is an issue. Whether its hardware or software....there is an issue. If that issue is hardware and its not defective....so be it. Sometime it is what it is when it comes to the pros n cons of devices, manufactures.

I keep seeing posts comparing it to the OG Droid saying it works similar to better as far as reception. If so...I might consider getting a G Nex. Cuz my lil buddy had good reception. Even tho my DX1 and RAZR works better than my OG for reception, I would be willing to accept OG Droid reception.

Short answer if i could return it i would - assuming its hardware.

Best signal strength I've seen is -93 dBm.

Other phones I've owned I have seen 80's...

Fingers crossed its a software fix.

Unfortunately I bought the phone off of a Verizon employee and probably can't return it. Took his upgrade. I didnt have one. I'm stuck until 11/13/12...

I will however try warranty replacement until I get a winner.

Even though I won't even have the phone until Friday/Saturday I voted yes.

The only reason for years I continue to pay this riduculous individual plan thats comparable to any other family plan is because the data speed/connect and voice quality/signal. I brag sometimes to people that over 5 years I only had one dropped call.

Someone in this thread said the conversion from 3G to 4G always been a problem, I will take note of that this being my first 4G phone but I will notice a difference because I never had a problem.

Why even argue this? Verizon has already acknowledged the problem. The post is asking if you would return your phone, not if there is or is not a problem.

Example I just turned wifi off. The nexus switched up 3g with zero bars and bounced to 2 bars a few times. I looked and the signal strength is - 120 d b m. I did manage to go in the app store and got on the droid forums but it was very slow. Now my bionic and thunderbolt if I dare compare signal strength, both would have no problems. This does me no good and yes I would need to return it if a fix doesn't work .

However I have had a good signal strength off of wifi in other parts of the state. This is not the norm for me . You can easily argue both sides.....

Verizon initially acknowledged the issue...only to backtrack and say that all it is is a software bug in how they report the signal (which they will "fix" with an update) and that the actual signal reception is working just fine on the Nexus. Which would be fine...except a number of folks on the forums with a GN have other 4G phones that get much better coverage in the same location in comparison to the GN...which would indicate that the issue isn't just as simple as what the phone is reporting. That is essentially the big concern, and it is worrying that it looks like VZW are washing their hands off of any signal issues with the GN.

If I were having reception/coverage issues with the GN, I'd most definitely return it within the 14 day window and then wait it out to see if things get better or a fix is eventually released that does more than just the proposed superficial fix.

Personally, I think it is very relevant that some people posting are reporting that they don't have signal issues. That is the entire point of a forum. To collaborate. Just because you're upset that you are having issues doesn't give you the right to flame everyone else who isn't.

I'd be curious to know the location of some of the people having issues. I'm in the Chicagoland area and have no issues whatsoever, signal is great. Could that be because I'm in one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country? Probably. Worth a look.

Here's my take.

A lot of people coming from a 3g phone will be complaining. Both of the 4g phones I've owned have occasional data sputtering. Its 4g lte technology.... its fairly new still.

Also there was a nationwide outrage yesterday.

I won't return mine because its still new and I've been through fixes with the tbolt and still love that phone too. There is a lot ahead for this phone ...and I can't wait to see what comes of it when cm9 is stable.

+1

Coming from the TBOLT.. we been through a lot.. i dont think I have a signal issue.. its just an accurate reading.. ive seen my "bars" at one bar and still able to achieve 10mbps down.. isnt that better than 3g? uh, yea.
