Will you switch to the dreaded?

Depends on how much I like the Incredible HD once I get it. I'm currently using a Droid X, and while I like it, I liked my iPhone 4 better. Apps seem to be more polished, the phone itself hardly crashes, and the touch screen is way more accurate, no one can deny that, even the most hardcore android fanboys.

Not to deny your claims but I have the X and have never had an issue with the accuracy of the touchscreen (and I usually have fat finger issues with every touchscreen device I try). Maybe I got lucky and got a good one but I honestly couldn't ask for the touchscreen to be any better on the X.

Agreed. I don't think my screen could be any more accurate. Browsing, typing, gaming... pretty much never miss. Maybe I just have super accurate fingers.

No, why would I go from a phone *Droid X, which lets me surf the web freely, to a phone *Iphone, which limits what sites I can visit and view?

I mean, am I missing something here?

It's not so much accuracy as it is responsiveness. Do me a favor, lock your Android phone and unlock it using the touch screen lock thing, now tell me how responsive that was? You really have to be biased to not see that the iPhone's touch screen is much more responsive than the Droids (I've owned a Droid,Droid X and used a Droid 2 extensively).

Clean as can be, no lag. PERFECT response here:)

Then you are one lucky individual. I've used at least 6 different android phones and they all lag when I do that.

That lock screen lag might be software related. The Droid 1 with Froyo doesnt lag unlocking. Well....mine doesnt or it isnt all the time.

Droid X on Froyo, unlocking there is still a lag alot of times. Droid X on Froyo and the WidgetLocker app, little or no lag. The WidgetLocker app might help on 2.1 too.

I'm not lucky, mine just doesn't lag unlocking. And my phone isn't perfect, I'm on my 3rd because of issues. Well, issues being that of the update. I don't claim the Droid X is a perfect phone. I've had my fair share of help threads, some self inflicted and others not.

But I would never switch to an iPhone. Like I posted earlier, they don't cure cancer like some of the people that bow to the iPhone think they do.

And I don't bow to my Droid Xdancedroid:icon_ banana:dancedroid

What you don't understand is that NOONE HERE said the iPhone cured cancer! You on the other hand like to act like the iPhone CAUSES cancer...

In your own comment you said that you're on your third device... There is NO way that you would've had to send back 2 iPhones to get one that "just works", as the iPhans would say. Sorry to burst your bubble dude.

You are really making yourself seem immature, all I did was call your bluff on your wild battery life claim, and you act like I said you have 3 eyes!!!
iPhone has better battery than any android phone, it's a fact that you're just going to have to accept.

If battery life doesn't matter to you, great! But, it does matter to alot of people, and many people who do not know that might read what you posted as if it were fact. (Which it's not)

I know atleast 5 people who are switching from VZW's Droid line to the vPhone SOLELY because of terrible battery life.

I can understand why so many people like imobile products. They want seamless experiences that are easy and pretty.

I don't want easy restricted use. I wanna work for what I want and be able to get it. Iphone is for the masses. Android is for people, like us, who don't wanna be told what to do at every turn with our devices. We make some sacrifices for that, but I personally wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm not sure I get this thread....Why does an iphone:icon_evil: have to be the only alternative to an Android phone:motdroidvert: when there's more options out there (iphone is still the #3 smartphone in total current users in the US)? I was happy with my Blackberry before I saw my friend's G1 and saw what a linux-based os could do for mobile computing. Then I read Palm was switching to a Linux-based OS similar to the move that made Symbian so successful on Nokia. With iphone, Apple has neglected to offer the same benefits of an open-source OS, which has always ruled it out in my opinion as a valid alternative for my money. I want Free turn by turn, good voice commands, google search integration, rooted OS, custom Roms, hacked aps, and mobile software development at the speed of hackers -- all things you can get with the combination of Google and an open-source-backed community. Plus, whatever short-term advantages iphone has had over its non-anddroid competitors will be eventually overcome by Windows (wm 7) and Blackberry (os 6+), which has always been the case in the software world. But if the iphone starts offering the same things as Android, I would consider it, I guess?:) Until then, it's no longer included in the discussion.

One word, apps. There are no other options. Its either android or iphone. Nobody else matters at the moment. You can't do on blackberry or windows phone what you can with iphone or android phone.

Not a chance! I have an iPod touch, which is practically the same as an iphone and I could never trade my Droid in for that crap! I can't put this phone down! I have no problem putting the itouch down. Drooooooiiidddd!!!

This is completely true. But don't bust his >:icon_eek:
icon_%20banana.gif
:icon_eek:< cause he brought up the Black Berry. I used a Black Berry for 3 years while I was at At&t patiently waiting for a phone like the Droid X and because you couldn't pay me enough to own an iPhone. Black Berry is an amazing phone and will not go unseen in the future. It will step up in a big way.

Okay, "apps" is definitely a point I'll entertain. But for how long is this a hurdle for Blackberry and MS? MS already has the developers so I would only give it a matter of time. My best guess is this battle will be less and less about iphone v Android, and much more about iphone v BB and W7p. To be honest, I never cried myself to sleep over apps when I had a Blackberry. I had tether-berry, ever-note, opera mini, hand-full of crappy games to kill down-time, weather bug, Pandora, FB, vlingo, LEDlight, gmaps, slider, and I can't remember. But I will say this, I wasn't so disappointed that I longed for an iphone. It could be the iphone just isn't for me (*but might be for others*) as an alternative to android, which is all I'm sayin'.

The mighty iPhone has problems too....just like any phone would.

I wouldnt say Android phones, Droid phones have terrible battery life. Not all anyway. The latest have better life than older ones. With the X and Droid 2 being 2 of the ones with better battery life than most.

And if battery life was really so important they wanna switch phones...stick an extended battery in an Android phone and keep it moving. As good as the battery life is on the iPhone, I dont think it can match a 2800 to 3500 mAh extended battery.

http://thenextweb.com/apple/2010/06...e-4-lasts-38-hours-on-heavy-use-yes-38-hours/

Read how one person...on their 2ND iPHONE still has problems...and ppl complaining about battery life still after that wild 38 hour with heavy use claim...remember his idea of heavy and mine might be totally different.
